They did their job without regard for whom they were protecting. Much like every other officer does, be they heterosexual, black, white, latino, etc.

Lib - full of crap as usual. "Only doing the job" indeed!
The female officer is a hero (both of them are heroic).
The pilot was a hero (and they made a movie about him; doubt this lady will get a movie deal).
Your stupid denial means that no one ever is a hero because heroic acts can only be performed by people who don't happen to be police officers, pilots, soldiers, sailors, marines, air force personnel, firemen, doctors, train drivers, nurses, padres or any other form of employment. You get that heroic acts can happen within the sphere of employment, right?
Or are you going to claim that if a soldier risks life to save others, he or she is "only doing their job"? Yeah, but there's cowardly ways to do a job aren't there? One could hunker down and return fire from behind a tree.
Idiot

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Oldr the issue is not with them but with the one they saved.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

But the article made it more about the officer and her sexual orientation for nothing more than sensationalism (IMO).Crackpot wrote:Oldr the issue is not with them but with the one they saved.
I do get the irony of the circumstances.
reminds me of the movie Crash and one (or more) of the story lines
Even the headline "Takes Bullet for.." implies that she dove in front of the house whip much like the secret service does (or is expeced to do) for a president.
I don't know if she did or didn't. Did she get shot charging the shooter? Did she get shot while returning fire and the shooter then turned to target her?
Regardless, she (and her partner) are heroes, no doubt.
I just seems to me the whole article is one big sensationalistic piece more for selling newspapers (or google hits, or webvertisments....).
But thats just me.
Re: Shots Fired At Congressional Baseball Game Practice...
I didn't care much for the article myself but a bad argument does not invalidate the larger point.

I was surprised Meade that you would get down in the dirt. I started not to respond; I don’t like the muck, but I will do this one time.MajGenl.Meade wrote:Lib - full of crap as usual. "Only doing the job" indeed!

I was in the military and I received my share of medals, but none for valor. Those medal are awarded to heroes, those individuals that go above and beyond the call of duty, just fighting the enemy is not enough.
During the Cold War I served a year on the D. E. W. line (close) in a fire trap that served as a remote radar site. We all knew that if we had a fire in those tinder dry building at the wrong time of the year we would die. If the fire didn’t get us the weather would. I was not a hero for serving there; that was what I was expected to do.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

people have different experiences and therefore they have different perspectives.
stupidity is relative.
now posting run-on articles without so much as a paragraph break?
... now that is stupid!

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Wes, you are going to have to do a better job of sucking up than that if you want to be accepted around this place. If you don’t mind, I will make a suggestion; now understand this is only a suggestion. I am not telling you what to do. Make an application for political reeducation camp. They will make you understand that you are a reactionary for wanting a better life for your children. I hope you don’t mind me taking the liberty of assuming you do have children. In case you don’t know, reactionary is what communist call those who refuse to think and act the party line. At any rate, political reeducation will rid you of that criminal tendency of thinking for yourself and I make you a useful tool for furthering the party line.wesw wrote:people have different experiences and therefore they have different perspectives.
