Westboro Baptist Church
Re: Westboro Baptist Church
Phelps wimped out and called off this protest.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Re: Westboro Baptist Church
you know it will be a downright party at his funeral.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

He has run for office (Senate & governor, IIRC) numerous times...and was a contributor to Gore in 2004.@meric@nwom@n wrote:Interestingly enough Phelps is a democrat per wikipedia.
Treat Gaza like Carthage.
Re: Westboro Baptist Church
We should plan a Plan B face-to-face meetup at his funeral.

It's getting to him ...not that it shouldn't.

Well, he's been legitimised!
Now how about legalising the right to beat the living shit out of anyone disturbing a funeral maliciously?US Supreme Court allows anti-gay funeral protests
Westboro Baptist Church protesters Westboro Baptist Church has staged protests at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan
The US Supreme Court has ruled an anti-gay church has the right to picket military funerals under the US constitution's free speech protections.
The court ruled 8-1 for the Westboro Baptist Church, throwing out an earlier $5m (£3m) judgement awarded to the father of a fallen US Marine.
Members carried signs denouncing the US for its tolerance of homosexuality.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote church members' speech cannot be limited "simply because it is upsetting".

Re: Westboro Baptist Church
just heard an interview on radio with a man whose brother was killed in Afghanistan (I think). Westboro announced they were going to be at the funeral, and the community gathered and effectively drowned them out; the caller said he and his family never heard the Westboro slime.
Re: Westboro Baptist Church
Drowning them would be better than drowning them out!

Re: Westboro Baptist Church
Well, this is disappointing, but like I said; they've open themselves to their own punishment- 'round the clock PRO-GAY, JEWISH, CHINESE, CATHOLIC, OBAMA, etc. (too long to list them all) rallies on their block.
Re: Westboro Baptist Church
Perhaps when one of their own passes and there is a vast number of 'protesters' show up for the funeral they will feel the weight of their deeds.
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

I don't know what's wrong with them but they are indeed sick and repulsive, to say the least. The atavistic urge to just beat the spit out of them is very understandable.Miles wrote:Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, has made its name by staging protests at funerals of people who died of AIDS, gay people, soldiers and even Coretta Scott King.
But on a journalistic point, how many people actually have died of Coretta Scott King?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
