The details behind Trump’s dismissing White House as a ‘dump’ Yahoo News
President Trump pushed back Wednesday against a report that he had called the White House a “dump” with a tweet extolling the presidential residence.
“I love the White House, one of the most beautiful buildings (homes) I have ever seen. But Fake News said I called it a dump – TOTALLY UNTRUE,” Trump tweeted Wednesday night.
The president was referring to a Golf magazine article, published online earlier in the day, that claimed he told members of his Bedminster, N.J., golf club, “That White House is a real dump.”
In a companion podcast, the reporter who wrote the story, Alan Shipnuck, said he received a “confrontational and rude” phone call from White House aide Hope Hicks, who demanded the line be retracted.
Shipnuck said he told her, “It’s not a lie. The president said this in front of eight or nine members and staffers at [Trump] Bedminster. It was his first visit to the club after he had been residing in the White House. It was a moment of candor.”
Shipnuck added that at a later visit to Bedminster, “two or three different other sources” corroborated the story.
“This is certainly a moment that has already passed into legend at Trump Bedminster,” he said.
Trump and the White House have an occasionally tenuous relationship with the truth. On Wednesday, for example, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders admitted that, despite Trump’s claims, neither the head of the Boy Scouts of America nor Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had recent phone calls with the commander in chief.
Given Trump’s love of golf, it’s likely that more sports reporters will get angry calls from the White House.
Since taking up residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Trump has continued to enjoy frequent visits to his own golf resorts. He’s set to clear out from the West Wing and embark on a 17-day vacation to Bedminster Friday.

Re: WHAT A DUMP!
If only he were clearing out from the White House for good.
It's been clear from day one he has no clue or no respect for history and the privilege of his role. He sickens me daily, but thank goodness for the Resistance. He will eventually go, and I hope he will be humiliated -- although I also seriously doubt he has the capability of humility. At best perhaps, we can make him really really really angry.

I'd settle for really, really, really angry so long as it's coupled with him leaving.
Re: WHAT A DUMP!
One of the round-table pundits on one of the news channels (I don't recall which one) had a pretty good quip about this....
"Well, anyone who's seen interior pictures of Trump's penthouse in Trump Tower knows what his taste is like...
The place looks like his interior decorator was Liberace..."

That's an insult to Liberace.

That's one of the daunting things about Trump...BoSoxGal wrote:That's an insult to Liberace.
No matter what person or thing you compare him to, in any context, the comparison is almost invariably unfair to the person or thing that is the object of the comparison...
"Donald Trump is as big a sociopath as Ted Bundy"...
Well, that's unfair to Ted Bundy...
"Donald Trump is as bad as a supply of sarin gas being used to kill hundreds of children in an orphanage..."
"Well, that's unfair to sarin gas..."
ETA:
I want to make clear that I am not in any way equating the late great Lee Liberace (who my mother was a big fan of) with Ted Bundy or sarin gas...
Just using that comparison to illustrate a larger point...

I'm from a place where he used to perform under the stage name of "Walter Busterkeys".

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
