As for Trump's behavior regarding this...
It's hardly surprising given his track record on the subject, that he hasn't been able to bring himself to call out and denounce the racist groups specifically. (This is the guy who dicked around for five days before he was able to bring himself to issue a brief and terse renunciation of David Duke's support, after first lying and saying he had never heard of Duke.)
Trump is a guy who can go on for days criticizing a Broadway show or a comedy TV program, but when it comes to the KKK or neo-Nazis he suddenly becomes bashful...The only one he seems to find tougher to criticize is Vladimir Putin...
There's no secret to the reason for this. Trump well knows that he has deliberately pandered to racism and xenophobia, and that consequently racists make up an important faction of his support. And Trump is the sort of morally empty person who doesn't want to alienate
any supporter no matter how foul or odious they may be.
If anyone was looking for Trump to provide some expression of moral leadership at a time like this, they've got the wrong dude...
This is yet another way in which he's "not a typical politician"...

I used that term in my first post about this. The guy is also a killer. And a murderer. (Obviously not every person who engages in an act of terrorism is also a murderer; not every act of terrorism causes death.)
And since he is a murderer, you can mark me down with Dale as supporting the DP in this case.
