Local tv said welder's lens, #41, was the right thing to wear.

Too much high haze and clouds to see much locally.

One comment I heard once during the NBC coverage, Note all the individuals who say the scientists are wrong about climate change, had no doubt that scientists were smack on the money about the time and location for this eclipse.

The Super Bowl can't compete with an event that has the biggest star:
The solar eclipse was more popular than the Super Bowl on Facebook

The solar eclipse eclipsed the Super Bowl.

On Monday, more than 66 million people commented, posted and reacted to the solar eclipse on Facebook, according to data from the social media giant. That's about 2 million more than the 64 million people who were talking about the 2017 Super Bowl on the site.

Billionaire Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was no exception. He shared three beautiful shots from atop the Prineville, Ore., data center, taken with a time lapse camera. The center was in the path of totality.

We drove under clouds and through moderate rain to Geneva Nebraska. There were 31 on board. Nine were school aged kids. We pulled into the county fairgrounds as the sun was just beginning to be munched by the moon, but it was covered by thin clouds. As we got our lawn chairs set up, the clouds parted and stayed that way until we loaded back onto the bus. It was cloudy most of the way home.

Traffic was much heavier coming home. Still moved 65 to 75 MPH most of the time. All but about 100 miles is limited access four lane, and that 100 miles of four lane bypasses all but two towns. Only one town kept us below their 40 MPH posted speed limit because their traffic lights were all flashing yellow our way. Police, who never saw so many vehicles in a month, were trying to direct cross traffic.

My younger son and his wife and daughter went to St Joseph MO. It rained, and got darker. Their normal four hour trip home took 6-1/2, all on limited access interstates. One 56 mile stretch took almost three hours due to idiots who don't understand that a one lane construction zone can still be negotiated at the posted 60 MPH, down from 75. It became stop and go.

Everyone on the bus agreed that they thoroughly enjoyed the trip. There was talk of doing it again in 2024, but I may not be bothered to keep my grandfathered passenger CDL alive. I have to renew the federally required physical every year. That includes a treadmill stress test every two years due to my past issues. No fun, even if it is a good idea.

If you missed it, I'm sorry for you.
