President Trump's $17 Million Caribbean Home Was Just Pummeled By Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma is currently wreaking havoc in the Caribbean, and it’s not pardoning properties owned by the commander in chief.

One of Donald Trump’s vacation homes, known as Le Chateau des Palmiers, was in the direct path of the category 5 hurricane as it hit the island of St. Martin Wednesday morning, the Washington Post reports.

The state of the property, which is currently listed for sale with Sotheby’s International Realty for $16.9 million after being slashed from the original $28 million asking price earlier this summer, is currently unknown.

However, a government official confirms even the island’s strongest structures were devastated by the storm.

“We know that the four most solid buildings on the island have been destroyed, which means that more rustic structures have probably been completely or partially destroyed,” French Interior Minister Gerard Collomba told AFP.

The 5-bedroom beachfront villa located on Plum Bay at the western point of the island was reportedly purchased by the Trump family in 2013, after being listed for $19.7 million and has since been rented out for luxury vacations.

A spokesperson for the Trump Organization, Amanda Miller, told the Post, “All of the proper precautions and protections have been implemented and right now we are just praying for all those in the path of Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean and beyond.”

Irma is barreling towards Florida, where the president owns several more properties including the golf resort Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. It’s expected to make landfall there this weekend.

Miller adds of the threat to Trump’s mainland properties, “The safety and security of our guests, members and colleagues is our top priority and we are closely monitoring Hurricane Irma.

Our teams at the Trump properties in Florida are taking all of the proper precautions and following local and Florida state advisories very closely to ensure that everyone is kept safe and secure.

We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to victims of Hurricane Harvey and are praying for those that are in the path of Hurricane Irma.”

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I'm surprised a Russian oligarch didn't snap it up for the original asking price...

They seem to love to buy Trump properties at inflated prices...

Actually, I think it would've been twice the original asking price - the better to launder the rubles. 8-)

I'm beginning to think that Hurricane Irma is indeed the creation of anti-American Evil Doers...

Think about it...

The two islands that have take the worst hits so far are The US Virgin Islands, and the US territory Puerto Rico...

The most likely trajectory now has it missing Cuba entirely, and then hanging a sharp right to make a direct hit on Miami...

Coincidence?

I think not...

From what I understand Barbuda was entirely annihilated - I didn't even know it existed, poor little island. :(

It doesn't, that was a cover story out out by the hurricane attack force to throw us off.

Actually, in addition to Barbuda/Antigua, I think the Dominican Republic took a pretty good hit. As for Puerto Ricans, I'm sure Trump doesn't consider them real americans and is looking for a way to revoke their green cards.

Destructive hurricanes like Harvey and Irma are not the result of natural phenomena or even climate change.  They are acts of God sent as signs that He is displeased with America's tolerance and acceptance of gays as shown by recent elections won by openly gay candidates and the passage of laws that enumerate and protect the civil rights of members of the LGBTQ community ... at least according to certain 'knowledgeable' individuals.  Evangelical preachers such as Kevin Swanson (who has ties to GOP Senator Ted Cruz) and 'shock jock' Rick Wiles (who once suggested that ebola could be the perfect solution to the 'problem' of homosexuality), as well as well-known right-wing commentator Ann Coulter, have used their radio programs or social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter to state their views.

“I don’t believe Hurricane Harvey is God’s punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor.  But that is more credible than ‘climate change',” Coulter posted on Twitter on Monday night in response to a report that the impact of Hurricane Harvey has been made worse by climate change.

Houston, of course, elected the nation’s first openly LGBTQ mayor, Annise Parker, in 2009; however, Parker left office due to term limits in 2015.

I honestly wonder why people would want to honor or worship a god who would send these punishments on people who generally have very little to do with the offending behavior. A god to fear, perhaps, but not to love or celebrate, and one I'd want to get as far away from as I could in any afterlife, lest I piss him off and get smitten. If the choice is between a psycho god who gets pissed of and overreacts (kind of sounds like Trump) vs a devil who I know is going to burn me forever, I'd take the latter.

these so-called christians never cease to amaze me.

The latest projection I've seen on the path for Irma looks absolutely dreadful for the US mainland...

A landfall (probably as a Cat 4) on South Florida, followed by a trek all along the heavily populated eastern sea coast of the state, followed by a trip back out over open water, (where it will will re-intensify) followed by a second landfall just west of Charleston SC... :?

And then of course we have Jose warming up in the bull pen...

I equate it to spousal and/or child abuse. Someone gets beaten badly, there's doubt, remorse, bitterness, even hatred and -- a short time later -- they're back together, all love and forgiveness... knowing that it's going to happen all over again.

The sickest of relationships -- all based on fear.

And yet even mainstream and progressive Christians celebrate a God who once annihilated 99.9% of life on Earth because he was wrathful.

And St Martin/St. Maarten. Princess Juliana Airport was pretty well ripped apart, as was the harbour, in addition to a good portion of the buildings.

It's obvious. If you believe that god knows the future then he knew that the rainbow would become the international symbol for gay rights and he was just anticipating it.

Those who do not believe in an omniscient god are not tortured to provide a rationalization for why God is not morally accountable for what he knows will be the consequences of his actions.

One can only be accountable "to" somebody else. The creator can never be accountable (ever) to the created.

Phew! I feel so tortured.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Well apparently Irma flattened Trump's Caribbean island mansion. Yay, Irma!

If the bitch has to hit Palm Beach and surrounds full force, I hope she flattens all his other shit, too.

Well, I long ago stopped asking the question "can he go any lower?" because the answer to that question is always yes...

He manages to find ways to go lower than my imagination is capable of even conceiving...

The latest trajectory model now has Irma making landfall in South Florida a little to the west of Miami, and then cutting a swath up through the center of the state, then moving into Georgia...

While this is obviously not good news for the people living in central Florida, from a property destruction and injury and loss of life perspective overall, this is is probably preferable to the earlier projection which had Irma moving up the east coast of Florida without ever fully coming inland, then going back out over open water and then making a second landfall...

By staying over land, the hurricane force will weaken fairly quickly. The other good news ("good" of course being a very relative concept in this context) is that unlike Harvey this storm is moving fairly quickly so we shouldn't see it sitting and spinning over a single area dropping 40-50 inches of rain...

Of course 15-20 inches of rain over the course of a few hours is no picnic, especially in a flat, poor drainage state like Florida...
