What is this?
It's sauteed zucchini.
It's I-ty food. I don't want no I-ty food.
It's not. I got it at the A&P. It's like... squash.
I know I-ty food when I hear it! It's all them "eenie" foods... zucchini... and linguine... and fettuccine. I want some American food, dammit! I want French Fries!

Another sports themed movie, which might possibly have been done before - I can’t remember.

I think Dales has it.
My favorite quote from the film:
Hey! Are you really gonna shave your legs?
Dave: Certo! All the Italians do it.
Mike: Ah. Some country. The women don't shave theirs.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Re: Name That Movie!
Talk about a movie that has not aged well -- I saw the last 30 minutes of it recently and it was embarrssingly bad. The sport scenes are awful and unbelievable (even assuming that such a ridiculous race format would be a thing at a major college), the dialogue is stilted and unrealistic, the acting is goofy; almost unwatchable. There must be a category for the worst good film (it still gets 4 stars and received critical awards) -- this one would be on it.

Home? I have no home. Hunted... despised... living like an animal. The jungle is my home! But I will show the world that I can be its master. I shall perfect my own race of people... a race of atomic supermen that will conquer the world

This is the most uncomfortable coffin I've ever been in. Your selection is quite shoddy. You are wasting my time.

One of my all time favorites; we'll be watching it again in a few days...
It's about time somebody went with a Halloween-appropriate flick...
If nobody gets it today I'll take it tomorrow, and post another seasonal film...

Re: Name That Movie!
One of my all time favorite quoted form the movie:
Conrad Brooks: Mr. Lugosi? I know you're very busy, but, um... can I have your autograph?
Bela Lugosi: Certainly.
Conrad Brooks: You know which movie of yours I love, Mr. Lugosi? The Invisible Ray. You were great as Karloff's sidekick.
Bela Lugosi: Karloff? Sidekick? FUCK YOU! Karloff does not deserve to smell my shit! That limey cocksucker can rot in Hell for all I care!
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: What happened?
Bela Lugosi: How dare that asshole bring up Karloff? You think it takes talent to play Frankenstein? It's all makeup and grunting!
[mocks Frankenstein]
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: Bela, I agree with you 100%. Now, "Dracula," that's a role that requires talent.
Bela Lugosi: Of course. Dracula requires presence. It's all in the eyes, and the voice, and the hands...
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: That's right. That's right. You seem a little agitated. You wanna to go outside and get some air?
Bela Lugosi: Bullshit! I'm ready now! Roll the camera!

As I painfully recall, that was me through most of elementary and high school. Soon after, alcohol and drugs fix that identity crisis for me.dales wrote:One of my all time favorite quoted form the movie:

Re: Name That Movie!
I was thinking the same movie as Dales, but then I think the actual dialog comes from one of the movies "filmed" as part of that movie (and I really don't know which one, although I doubt it's Glen or Glenda).
Re: Name That Movie!

Ed Wood...
Dale's first quote was originally delivered by Lugosi in Wood's Bride Of The Monster:
And here's Landau as Lugosi delivering the line in Ed Wood:

Re: Name That Movie!
Jim, did you know Bride of the Monster from seeing it or from Ed wood? I'll admit to seeing Plan 9 when I was younger (somehow wasting 90 minutes of my life didn't bug me as much then), and I did watch Glen or Glenda (and don't recommend it) after the Ed Wood movie, but I never though I could sit through Bride of the Monster.
Re: Name That Movie!
I saw both Plan 9 From Outer Space and Glen Glenda back when I was in college, but I didn't see Bride Of The Monster until after the Depp movie came out...
I made a point of watching it, because I figured that with a cinema impresario as important to the history of film making as Edward Wood, a true film buff shouldn't miss any of his ground-breaking work...

Re: Name That Movie!
As I recall from the Ed Wood film, it was Lugosi doing his best William Shatner imitation--did it live down to expectations?
