"Tighter Massachusetts Gun Law Does Not Restrict Second Amendment"

"Despite enacting one of the strictest gun laws in the country in 2014, a new, comprehensive report from researchers at Northeastern University and UMass Boston found that the percentage of people being denied access to firearms in Massachusetts is in line with the national average. The vast majority—we’re talking 97 percent vast—of individuals who apply for a Firearm ID Card (FID) or a License to Carry (LTC) in the Bay State are accepted."
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

If the results are the same as the national average, where is the utility of this stricter law?

ok, later edit. the above I posted after reading the first post. Now I have read the linked newspaper story. There is something in these new regs that makes it harder for people with a a history of violence to get a gun. Suicides have also been impacted. I suspect the violence bit would have been the same result with better local notification to the feds when an individual has done some thing that gets them on the feds 'no gun purchase allowed' list. That has been a hole in the phone verification system for a long time. The gun dealer calls a central number for authorization to sell and the database on the other end is not fully informed by local court or law enforcement. The suicide thing I am guessing has to do with waiting times. Is there retirement for secure and separate storage of ammo and guns? If so how is that enforced? Does the permit to possess a firearm include consent to search to verify compliance?
