A very odd denomination of worshipers. I'm having a hard time wondering why a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is so prominently displayed at the altar. Of course, that doesn't alter the impact of a mass murder.

Apparently so.
The Gun Control Act of 1968 specifically prohibits Dishonorable Dischargees from owning firearms.
It said he served from 2010-2014 and was Court-Martialled in May 2014.

Well, one is written into law in the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
The other is in a "FU" letter to King George, and isn't legally binding.

I will go out on a limb and say the shooter is a white liberal who hates Southern Baptist and Christians; Which is an attitude, I believe is a common attitude among liberals. Or, it could be revenge for the black church of a couple years ago. There have been some minor revenge attacks.

The bad conduct discharge was based on court martial convictions for assault against his wife and child; convictions of this type under state law result in federal prohibition against gun ownership or possession, but I don’t know if that applies to military convictions.

It isn’t about a felony, it’s about domestic violence. This was part of the VAWA legislation and is universal - bodily harm domestic violence convictions in any state, even at the misdemeanor level, result in federal firearms prohibition. I am well versed in this matter from my years in criminal law; as a prosecutor I often referred cases to the US Attorney for prosecution under the provision when an abuser with a prior conviction was found in possession - it’s an automatic 5 year federal prison term which greatly exceeds the pathetic punishments available under state law for beating a wife or lover short of permanent disfigurement - which is the felony bar in Montana (or three prior convictions).

BSG, I'll defer to your knowledge on that- I knew that domestic violence convictions was pretty much an automatic federal firearms prohibition, but I wasn't sure it was an absolute. In any case, the question still remains if that conviction via court-martial was entered into the system. Because he was able to buy the gun last year- the sale was registered in his name, apparently.
