The Black Death
Re: The Black Death
Oh for fuck's sake Gob, if that's what's got your pants in a twist, getoveritalready - of course a plague that became resistant to antibiotic treatment would eventually sweep all the continents (with the possible exception of Antartica), considering the nature of modern travel. This is a truism that is constantly discussed among epidemiologists contemplating a modern pandemic event.

Re: The Black Death
Funny how in wishing for genocide you only mentioned the "poetic justice" of it spreading to Europe?
This is what you are wishing on the people of Europe;
This is what you are wishing on the people of Europe;
The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Eurasia and peaking in Europe in the years 1346–1353
Plague symptoms include sudden fevers, head and body aches, vomiting and nausea.
Bubonic plague - the most common form of plague - can causes inflamed lymph nodes, making them tense and painful.
As the condition worsens, the lymph nodes can turn into pussy, open sores.
Symptoms of pneumonic plague includes bloody or pussy saliva, chest pain and coughing. It can also lead to organ failure and shock.

Go fuck yourself, Gob. I didn’t WISH it, that’s not in my posts - it’s your deliberate repeated misrepresentation of what I wrote and it is intellectually dishonest in the extreme. And pathetic.

I'm not sure what the right interpretation of that statement should be. I honestly can't see how you AREN'T saying that having a "Captain Tripps" pandemic would be a good thing.
Maybe every planetary civilization eventually burns itself out. Hmm. Too bad I'm a terrible writer- I just came up with a great idea for a Sci Fi novel.

As my mom is fond of saying, however much humans may deserve it, nuclear war is unfair to the animals that would be maimed and killed as "collateral damage."dales wrote:We can always hope for all out nuclear war.Call me very cynical, but with 7 billion+ human rats destroying the planet, isn’t it about time for a new plague to bring things back into balance?

Here's a hint BSG - put down the shovel. Nothing wrong with the science you quote. It's the 'wouldn't it be poetic justice' statement which is nonsensical. Poetic justice is for poetry (there's a clue in the name) and you are essentially expressing a wish that divine retribution will reward good and punish evil.
Colinvaux (author of Big Fierce Animals) hasn't worn well. Try Jared Diamond if you want some more thoughtful analysis of human ecology.
I took Dales' nuclear war comment to be sarcasm but I must admit I have not kept up with the iconography of emoticons so I am not sure what the little green thingy symbolizes.

Perhaps THIS headline will assuage Gob's butthurt:
Madagascar plague death toll rises to 165 as scientists fear deadly virus WILL reach US, Europe and Britain and could mutate to become UNTREATABLE

Poetic justice isn't just for poetry - what a silly, silly statement. It's invoked ALL THE TIME in reference to real life happenings.ex-khobar Andy wrote:Here's a hint BSG - put down the shovel. As rube told us (and he's right) pneumonic plague is caused by a bacterium, not a virus. I am guessing that is a problem of the headline writer not the scientists but I could be wrong. Or just very silly, take your pick.BoSoxGal wrote:Perhaps THIS headline will assuage Gob's butthurt:

You wished Black Death on Europeans you dim bint, claiming it was "poetic justice"! What do you think Black death entails, a nice holiday in the south of France?
You have form on this bTWpoetic justice
noun [ U ] UK

People are fucked. I expect it to be getting worse every year in my lifetime, but total devastation will take longer.
The planet will survive, but areas habitable for humans will change drastically, and with any luck, the human population will thus decline drastically. Some new ecosystem will emerge, but very likely in the process the Earth will shed thousands of beautiful species whose niches will be destroyed by climate change.
Evolution happens.

Yes, those are all my posts Gob and I stand behind them. Again, I didn’t wish the plague on Europe - and by the way, it would inevitably spread elsewhere - I’m merely commenting on science based facts.
Everyone is going to die. Millions of people all over the world die all kinds of horrible deaths - where’s your outrage about that reality?
This is just you attacking me because you love to attack me - it’s very transparent and quite pathetic. Do carry on.

Hoisted on your own petard...but wouldn’t it be a kind of poetic justice if it did spread to Europe and become resistant to treatment?
Wouldn't it be poetic justice if, after your wishing it on Europeans, it spread instead to the USA?

We have Drumph to deal with (almost as bad as the plague).

This is not about nationalism. Your ignorance of science makes this conversation utterly pointless.

I've not made single point about the science, try this.....

You see if you think that there is any 'science" in your assertion that it would be "poetic justice" if it spread to Europe, then you're very much mistaken.
