Getting herself into hot water

Post by Gob »

A university student who thought hot water bottles heated themselves up is taking the internet by storm.

The advertising student messaged her flatmate to ask why her new hot water bottle was not working.

Josh Moody, from Glasgow, was informed by Megan Ellis that she had put water in hours ago and the bottle still had not heated up.

Mr Moody shared a screenshot of their conversation on Twitter with the caption: 'My flatmate ladies and gents'.

I have to wonder if they will remain flatmates.

Having never dated an unintelligent girl more than one time (each), I would never have had one become a roomy.

Reminds me of the ancient puzzle about the vacuum thermos bottle, that keeps hot stuff hot, and cold stuff cold: How do it know?

But this may be an excusable event in the social history of technology. I recently saw another picture online that included a hot water bottle and someone questioned why an enema bag was there. Probably many people today would be baffled by 'carbon paper' if they came across some of the actual stuff. Does not mean they are mentally dense, just that times have changed. Body coverings still have buttons, but how many reading this know how to use a button hook?

When I was a a kid, our rain coats had them.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

That's a buggy whip, Ray, not a button hook.

THIS is a 'button hook' —

Sometimes called a 'hitch' or a 'curl', the receiver runs straight downfield at speed, then suddenly stops — (in theory the defender, who is caught off-guard, cannot react as quickly and continues on for a step or two) — and turns sharply back in toward the quarterback.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Hey!

It's not like we modern folk ever really use or used hot water bottles. I understand you oldsters had to use them, in the days before electricity.

(really, I've never owned or seen a water bottle in real life. I always used a heating pad that could plug in, or get heated in the microwave. and I have a heated mattress pad (requires electricity) too).

This is what I recall. The "all purpose" bag n' bottle.

We had one of those, which became my monthly companion when I began suffering debilitating menstrual cramps at age 12. My mom let me take it when I moved away from home and it remained my stalwart comforter from cramps and migraine pain for another couple of decades until the plastic finally began cracking beyond repair - at that point I think the bag was just shy of 50 years old, having been purchased early in my parents’ marriage.

I saw one in Walmart the other day and considered replacing mine - a hot water bottle is a different experience than an electric heating pad, preferred in some circumstances. Sadly although it looked the same, the rubber was vastly different - much thinner, hard to believe it would hold heat very long at all. Everything’s cheap these days.
