Got their money's worth!
Re: Got their money's worth!
I forgot to ask earlier. Do they still have their old Lucas refrigerator to keep their beer warm?
A friend of Doc's, one of only two B-29 bombers still flying.

I’ve definitely considered that aspect, although I’m not sure that the yearly energy savings will equal to replacement cost every 5 years.Big RR wrote:I agree, even though the current refrigerators are not as mechanically durable as your current one, they are far more efficient and better insulated, with the better insulators allowing for far more interior space for the same size unit as compared to the old ones. It's costing you a lot more to run this old fridge than a new one would cost.
The real difficulty is that I can’t fit a fridge taller than 59” into the only space available - the cabinets were installed with the current fridge in mind and moving them isn’t an option because a drop ceiling was also installed above them, so no room to go up. Every standard fridge these days is taller than 59”, so I can only purchase an apartment sized fridge and even then only a few models are short enough - and because demand for them is not as big as for regular sized refrigerators, it’s actually more expensive to purchase a small model.
*sigh*

Used appliance store? I recall one in Revere (route 60/Squire Road, near Market Basket) that has all sorts of stuff.
