Man choked, defecates himself after trying to pay ticket in pennies, lawsuit says

When Anthony Sevy got a parking ticket in Royal Oak, he wasn't pleased. When he went to pay his ticket - with pennies - he was turned away, choked, and then defecated himself.
Things went horribly wrong for a Michigan man who tried to pay for a parking ticket in pennies.
Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse than that.
It all started when Anthony Sevy got a $10 parking ticket in Royal Oak, Mich., near Detroit, reports WJBK. He went to pay the ticket with his credit card and was told there would be an added $1.75 service fee.
[parking tickets around here usually run $50 on up]
Sevy wasn't happy with that, his attorney told WJBK, so he left and later came back with rolls of pennies.
"The clerk wasn't too happy about that, they refused to allow him to pay with penny rolls," attorney Jonathan Marco said.
Surveillance video from inside the district court shows what happened next.
Sevy and a court officer appear to get in an argument before Sevy was reportedly asked to leave. On Sevy's way out of the building, a court officer grabs him from behind and chokes him until he passes out.
That's when Sevy defecated himself, his attorney told WJBK. Now, the Michigan man is suing the court officers.
"I don't think anyone paying in penny rolls, whether it's a preferred thing to do for a court clerk, warrants this type of this assaultive behavior and violation of constitutional rights," Marco said.

They pulled that over penny rolls? (And only $10 worth at that) i’ve Heard them turn away loose Chan’s before but not penny rolls. ( and a 17.5% service change does seem a bit userous.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Lots of local rules on this sort of thing in the USofA. Many places will not accept $50 or $100 bills, no matter the amount owed. Some places, including some government offices, will not accept cash in any form--credit card or check only. (to reduce the probability of theft). Refusal of large numbers of pennies is also common. The problem is counting them. Rolled coins can be 'short' on their content and the rolls must be opened and run through a counting machine.
All this in spite of the statement on the paper money "legal tender for all debts public and private.

Probably not 17.5%, it could well be a flat $1.75 charge on all card transactions.Crackpot wrote:They pulled that over penny rolls? (And only $10 worth at that) i’ve Heard them turn away loose Chan’s before but not penny rolls. ( and a 17.5% service change does seem a bit userous.
Treat Gaza like Carthage.

That court officer choked the shit out of that Chan guy. He should sue for defecation of character.
