Or, as Trump would say: Schadenfreude. Apparently that German word has no equivalent in English or Swedish.

The White House legal team response to Flipper Flynn's plea deal?
Well, he was an Obama Administration mole, of course:
Well, he was an Obama Administration mole, of course:
https://www.salon.com/2017/12/01/blame- ... -to-flynn/"Today, Michael Flynn, a former National Security Advisor at the White House for 25 days during the Trump Administration, and a former Obama administration official, [ and chief national security advisor and constant travel companion of Donald Trump's during the campaign] entered a guilty plea to a single count of making a false statement to the FBI," White House lawyer Ty Cobb said in a statement on Friday per press pool reports.
The statement continued, "The false statements involved mirror the false statements to White House officials which resulted in his resignation in February of this year.[After his false statements were made public by The Washington Post; until that happened the so-called President did bupkis] Nothing about the guilty plea or the charge implicates anyone other than Mr. Flynn. The conclusion of this phase of the Special Counsel's work demonstrates again that the Special Counsel is moving with all deliberate speed and clears the way for a prompt and reasonable conclusion."

Re: Lock WHO up?
Question for one of our legal experts. He pleaded guilty to a single count of lying to the FBI. Is there anything in the documents which tells us that is the extent of it? If there are further disclosures of lying to the FBI on other occasions can there be another separate charge? If the Mueller investigation finds some other felonious behavior could he be charged? And is there some sort of implied threat - if he is thought to be less than fully cooperative with the investigation could they tear the deal up and drop him right back in it?
Re: Lock WHO up?
I would guess that the charges are to lure potential inffomants. “Cooperate sn you can get away with this” so to speak
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Re: Lock WHO up?
He had engaged in other behavior that was legally actionable, as I recall the legal pundits discussing. Failing to register as a foreign agent, violations of the Logan Act (almost never prosecuted), maybe more? He’s pleading to a serious but lesser charge just as Papadapolous did, as incentive to cooperate. Standard prosecution tactics, I engaged in the same with confidential drug informants all the time.
Andy, I’m sure Mueller’s agreement with Flynn covers all eventualities - smart prosecutors always include limitations on plea agreements which contemplate failure of the defendant to fully cooperate, revelation of criminal activity unknown to the prosecution at the time of the agreement, etc. I suspect there is a great deal weighing on Flynn’s shoulders for him to have entered into this plea agreement and cooperative relationship with the special counsel.

I suspect it's "merit based cooperation." If Flynn testifies that Kushner was the "very senior" transition member I bet he'll not spend one day in prison.

Re: Lock WHO up?
So there would be some kind of written agreement on which the plea is based. Would that ever be a publicly available document?BoSoxGal wrote: Andy, I’m sure Mueller’s agreement with Flynn covers all eventualities - smart prosecutors always include limitations on plea agreements which contemplate failure of the defendant to fully cooperate, revelation of criminal activity unknown to the prosecution at the time of the agreement, etc. I suspect there is a great deal weighing on Flynn’s shoulders for him to have entered into this plea agreement and cooperative relationship with the special counsel.

Andy, all of these documents are in the publically available PACER docket which is accessible for every case pending in every federal court in this country (trial court and appeals court and bankruptcy court too). It’s all public, unless filed under seal (and there had to be good reason to seal cases or specific pleadings). As I have mentioned before, anyone can get a free PACER account - there is a per page charge of 5 or 6 cents to retrieve documents. It’s a wonderful system, I use it all the time for work and for keeping up to date on the latest and greatest. Sunshine is indeed the greatest disinfectant.
Note that affirmation signed by Flynn on the plea agreement and the statement of offense include a statement that all the facts known by Flynn (and relevant to the investigation) are not included. So much more to come.

Re: Lock WHO up?
Thanks for the link BSG - I had seen the filing and the statement of offense, but I had not seen the written plea agreement which answers my questions.
Thanks for the explanation of PACER Guin. I had assumed it was something $$$ like Lexis and PubMed.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
