Washington (CNN )President Donald Trump's decision Wednesday to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital has temporarily derailed the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, two senior White House officials acknowledged after Trump's speech.
The question now for those officials: For how long?
"We're prepared for derailment -- temporary, I hope. Pretty sure it will be temporary," said a senior White House official, who acknowledged that the President's peace team has not spoken with furious Palestinian officials since the Trump's announcement.
That "derailment" was a cost the White House was prepared to accept to fulfill Trump's campaign promise. And two senior White House officials said they felt making the announcement now -- before Israelis and Palestinians have reached the negotiating table -- would help mitigate the damage to the peace process.

Re: Oh for fuck's sake
Quick — can anyone name a bill ... ANY bill ... in the past eleven months that has been introduced on the floor of Congress; been debated, voted upon, and passed by both houses; and sent to the president's desk for a signature or veto?
Now, how many "Executive Orders" have been signed by the Chief Buffoon in the same time period?
How much longer are we — the masses — going to sit back and quietly accept Trump's policy of government by manifesto rather than the passage of bills into law? 'King Donald' needs to remember that two hundred and forty years ago, we threw off one tyrant ... as did the French proletariat a few years later. And if it can be done once (or twice), it can be done again.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Or if he prefers Russian history, there are a couple of lessons* there, too.

From Trump's speech:
Any version of a two state solution, which has been US policy for 20 + years and UN policy for nearer 40 years, has recognized the Palestinian people - they too, like every other sovereign nation, have the right to determine their own capital. Which happens to be Jerusalem. Who knew that this capital city stuff could be so complicated?Israel is a sovereign nation with the right, like every other sovereign nation, to determine its own capital. Acknowledging this is a fact is a necessary condition for achieving peace. (my emphasis added)

Thoughtless idiocy.
Trump cares more about coddling Sheldon Adelson than the lives of people in the Middle East.

I sure can Bill...Quick — can anyone name a bill ... ANY bill ... in the past eleven months that has been introduced on the floor of Congress; been debated, voted upon, and passed by both houses; and sent to the president's desk for a signature or veto?
The legislation ordering new sanctions on Russia, and blocking Trump from unilaterally lifting them:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/02/politics/ ... index.htmlWashington (CNN)President Donald Trump signed into law Wednesday morning legislation that levies new sanctions against Russia and restricts Trump's own ability to ease sanctions in place against Moscow.
The bill is one of the first major pieces of legislation that was sent to Trump's desk, and it represents a rebuke of the President by giving Congress new veto power to block him from removing Russia sanctions.
The White House announced the signing shortly after 11 a.m. ET, saying the bill includes "a number of clearly unconstitutional provisions" that "purport to displace the President's exclusive constitutional authority to recognize foreign governments, including their territorial bounds."
He would undoubtedly have preferred to veto the bill, but since it passed the Senate 98-2, and the House 419-3, there wouldn't have been much point...
That vote showed that there is almost no one in the United States Congress...from the Freedom Caucus to the Progressive Caucus...who trusts Donald Trump to act in the best interests of the United States regarding Russia...

Re: Oh for fuck's sake
So this bill contains provisions that are clearly unconstitutional. What is POTUS doing about this? Has the Solicitor General been instructed to bring action to the Supremes?

Just wondering has anyone started doing comparisons between Trump and Revelation yet?
Just curious.

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
