Police: Ukiah man bit off piece of man's ear in Christmas Eve fight over weed

For one family in Ukiah, Christmas Eve took a dark turn when two relatives got into an altercation about weed and one of the men responded by biting off a piece of the other's ear, according to police.
When police arrived at the scene on the 1100 block of North Oak Street about 5:50 p.m. on Christmas Eve, they found the 35-year-old victim with a chunk of one ear missing and blood streaming down his face, police said.
The victim had been drinking with a family member, 40-year-old Sammuel Paul Galindo, when they got into a disagreement "regarding a marijuana product," police said in a statement.
Galindo allegedly forced his relative onto the ground in a rage and started shoving his fingers into his eyes, telling him he wanted to kill him, then bit off and spit out a piece of the victim's ear, police report.
Galindo then grabbed a cylinder-shaped object and tried to punch the victim as he held it in his fist, police said, but the man broke free and fled.
With Galindo chasing after him and continuing to yell that he wanted to kill him, the victim locked himself in a car, according to police. Galindo repeatedly punched the windows, continuing to yell death threats, police said.
He was booked into the Mendocino County Jail shortly before 10 p.m. on suspicion of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon, threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, and violating his parole, county records indicate.
His bail is set at $50,000.
