Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I play golf occasionally (very occasionally, I'm not that good) and the walking was the only part I enjoyed. Sadly, a lot of courses require that all golfers use carts (probably mostly for the revenue, although it does speed play). I would think a golfer who uses a cart might well get less exercise in a round of golf than a DH does in a baseball game.

Interesting assessment of the assessment in the Washington Post.

Re: The Montreal Cognitive Assessment Test
does anyone know what the WH physician's obligations are here? I would imagine (but don't know for certain) that he would be under a duty to report to someone (if not make it public) if the president exhibited any physical or mental illness that affected or could affect his ability to do his job, but I sincerely question whether he has any obligation to present the president's height or weight accurately, or if he would have to say that the president has high cholesterol or other common symptoms of diseases for people his age unless they seriously affected his ability to do his job. Many people with diabetes, obesity, crappy blood chemistry, even heart disease run major companies and fill pressured positions in businesses, so I don't know why we would have to know that.
now I don't think the WH physician should lie, merely say he won't discuss that unless the president asks him to.
Face it, we can all see Trump is pretty overweight, and we can draw our own conclusions about his cognitive abilities (even if he can count backwards from 100 or recite short strings of numbers or letters) and his mental health generally. Doctor or no doctor, maybe we'll get lucky and he'll keel over (and the shock will kill Pence).

With the help of my bible study group we have been praying daily for similar results. All efforts have failed to date. I'm beginning to feel God isn't listening and has fallen for Drumpf's rhetoric and other assorted nonsense.Big RR wrote:... Doctor or no doctor, maybe we'll get lucky and he'll keel over..."

Praying to God is a waste of time; Trump is proof positive that God has forsaken us.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of gods to choose from, Ray.
Maybe you were just praying to the wrong one.

I don't know. I was raised to believe there is only one true God and that's the one to which we were directing our efforts. The guy is old -- maybe he's gone deaf.Econoline wrote:There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of gods to choose from, Ray. Maybe you were just praying to the wrong one.

In the world of fantasy, it is a largely accepted fact that the power of any given deity is proportional to the amount of belief in them or the amount of worship they are currently receiving.BoSoxGal wrote:Praying to God is a waste of time; Trump is proof positive that God has forsaken us.
The deity could have been originally conceived and shaped by the needs and desires of one small group but like any good meme, this 'idea' grows with each new person who responds, then spreads the word of this great new 'god on the block'. Soon, the deity has enough collective belief behind their 'name brand' that they come into existence, and use that power to fulfill the needs of their worshippers. In this sense, a god is a form of Tulpa, a thought form, made completely out of their worshipper's belief and faith in them.
The opposite is also true: As a deity's power base of worshippers shrinks, their divine strength fades and if all worship of them ceases, they may completely fade out of existence. The tragedy here is that worshippers who leave the god because he/she didn't grant their miracle will continuously weaken the god until they can't grant any miracles. It's kind of like a bank run on a god.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: The Montreal Cognitive Assessment Test
Ray--personally, if he is involved at all, I don't think god is giving us what we want because he is giving us what we deserve. Face it, a democracy takes work and requires engagement and involvement, anything less and we wind up with something terrible; for many it is far easier to blindly place their faith in someone else than take responsibility for themselves--it's the starting point of most dictators--democracy dies with cheering and flag waving, not anguished cries.
I would like to think we can step up and reclaim democracy, but I'm not that sure. But the fault lies not within our gods, but in ourselves.
