At least it rhymes

And do you actually think S Vietnam under Thieu or Diem was that much better? I know a bunch of people who went there who said they thought it was at least as bad (with the oppression of individual rights), if not worse

But that's what they were told to sacrifice their lives to fight for

"Nobody was struck by gunfire during this incident.  The evidence in the case so far indicates Armstrong fired two rounds from a weapon,
and that seven officers fired 65 rounds from their department-issued weapons," SFPD Commander Greg McEachern told KTVU.
That works out to nine rounds per man.  And that's from the people who are supposedly *TRAINED* in how to use their weapons?
Is this how the cops are now being trained to shoot?  Empty the magazine and hope at least one round finds its target?

Maybe we should arm the teachers ... they couldn't do any worse.

Apparently SF is training its officers at the Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy.

I’d never heard of her, before my time. Found this quote from her mother following Sandy Hook to be so utterly on point:
You know, it’s ironic that people who are irrational are expected under the law to get help on their own. There needs to be something in the law that compels a troubled person to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist. In the 1950s, we were institutionalizing people who weren’t mentally ill. You could institutionalize someone who was just unruly. We’ve gone from one extreme to the other.

The above report by Datsun is a typical result of many police involved shootings. Too much tv cop shows, too much seal team six movies, persuade the public otherwise. Hitting a vital part of the human body at just seven yards away under the usual conditions with a hand gun is HARD! I know of one Seal (from a West Coast team) who could do it under fire with a Browning P35 consistantly at up to a hundred yards. But this was only one individual, after many THOUSANDS of bullets fired in practice and frequent continued practice. Nobody else was even close and those who knew him spoke of his skills with that pistol with awe and respect--because it is so rare.

If not, why couldn't that law be amended to include all—or at least some—semiautomatic firearms?

(BTW, Karl Frederick, the NRA’s president back in 1934, said at the time, “I have never believed in the general practice of carrying weapons. I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses.”)
If I remember correctly the court ruled that these were not militia type weapons and for that reason they were made illegal. However, a citizen could still buy fully automatic guns with a back ground check and licensing.

In San Francisco the police are trained to only shoot bad guys in the foot or leave flesh wounds on non-critical body parts. If the suspects are black, they are supposed to fire their weapons into the air and not hit any street lights or other things. They're still working on sharpening their skills. However, in this case, they were successful at not hurting themselves or any civilians so it is considered a successful police action.

My handgun has a nine inch barrel; hitting a three liter soda bottle at twenty feet takes heavy concentration; hitting the same target at a hundred feet is almost impossible for me. But with my riffle it is an easy shot. The handgun is a shot range weapon, but there are carbines that can fold up in such a way they can fit in a small carry bag. They would have a much greater accurate range than a handgun.

Sadly, yet much more funny, this vid looks like target practice for the Keystone Kops who are falling all over themselves, and after all of this, the suspect was taken into custody two (2) hours later.

65 rounds of wasted ammo. They need to go back to cop camp.

SFPD is not allowed the use of TASERS.

Why?

They've proved themselves unable to use their firearms in an accurate manner.

Better to use a TASER and miss your target.

Than a powder-charged weapon and miss, perhaps striking an innocent bystander.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Yes... It's a little known fact that Country Joe and the Fish Samplers were the first group to do that.

Wikipedia credits somebody else.

"Muskrat Ramble" is a jazz composition written by Kid Ory in 1926. It was first recorded on February 26, 1926, by Louis Armstrong and his Hot Five
