Dealt & Alison

Post by BoSoxGal »

I’ve been feeling poorly for the last couple of weeks, more time in bed than out. The only upside to bad spells is that I have more time to dial up videos, and I’ve just stumbled on two that I really wanted to recommend. They are both inspirational documentaries about people overcoming tragedy or physical disability and achieving amazing things.

Dealt, on Hulu:

Alison, on Amazon Prime:

Both really excellent examples of documentary filmmaking, beyond being really incredible stories. I highly recommend them to fill a spare hour+.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I’ve been watching Wild Wild Country on Netflix. I’m amazed that story has left our collective conscious.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I remember the blow by blow on this one. Amazing story, but kind of like the OJ stories that came out -- if you lived through them, you don't really want to relive them no matter how well the retelling is done. For everyone else, though, there is a lot to be gained.
