Re: Home for Random Thoughts
I had a dream where I was at a party and no one was allowed to go to sleep, so I was forced to stay up even as I tried to find a way or place to sleep. When I woke up, I was exhausted from not getting any sleep!

Sweet redemption. (A recent Facebook posting from my extraordinary daughter.)
She's changing our world... stay tuned.Final grades went up and I can officially say I passed and completed X-ray school! I just need to take a minute and thank my biggest fan and supporter, my dad, because I wouldn’t have been able to do this without him. It took me longer than most to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and to get back into school but he was always there for me and supported all my decisions throughout the years. When people would say I was too old or I wouldn’t make it through the program he was the one there for me saying age doesn’t matter and I could do it. When certain people were wishing and wanting me to fail so they could laugh and say told you so he was the one encouraging me to work even harder. When I was super stressed balancing school, work and life he was there to calm me down and help me any way possible. It’s now finally that time we’ve been talking about for almost 2 years..the time when I can finally say I DID IT!! I can’t thank you enough Dad and I love you so much! Now bring on graduation in T-minus 1 week."

Good job, Dad. Your encouragement and support helped your daughter fulfill her X-ray vision.

BTW -- I've heard that before. It's a common saying within her peer group.

Congratulations to you both!

Do her peers say anything about X-Ray school teaching you to be insightful?RayThom wrote: BTW -- I've heard that before. It's a common saying within her peer group.
Anyway, you done good and she did too.

That's a heck of a testimony from a young lady to a dad.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Just about the time you think that nobody noticed and all your efforts and support have just been taken for granted, you get an affirmation like this and you melt like an ice cube in a microwave.RayThom wrote:Sweet redemption. (A recent Facebook posting from my extraordinary daughter.)

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

What makes anybody think that a barrel of monkeys would be fun?
Monkeys can be pretty nasty, and a whole bunch of them in a confined space like a barrel would probably all be scratching, biting and hissing at each other...
To say nothing of the smell....
Doesn't sound like a whole lot of "fun" to me....

Is it just me, or is there anyone else who sees the new made-up word "Latinx" and wants to pronounce it "LA-TINKS"?
(Actually...how DO you pronounce "Latinx"???
For all I know, as silly as it sounds, "LA-TINKS" might well BE the correct pronunciation.)

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Has anyone else noticed all the "corporate mea culpa" commercials on TV lately?
Last night I saw three of them in a row; one for Wells Fargo, ("please forgive us for ripping off thousands of customers with phony accounts. It was all the fault of of our greedy branch managers; it wont happen again") Facebook, ("We're so sorry that somehow all this fake news and personal info snatching got onto our site. We're going to make it a fun, family place again.") and Uber, ("Yeah we fucked up, but I'm a really nice new guy who isn't to blame for it and will fix everything")
It's really quite touching...

Yes, I have. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy. As I always say, Big Business needs a second chance. When they do right, no one remembers. When they do wrong, no one forgets.
