seems to me that the modern women are hardly breaking a sweat after three sets.
the match is just getting going.
they are never gonna get the same money as the men if they don t work the same hours
5 sets for the ladies?
Re: 5 sets for the ladies?
It is a good point that women should be playing the same format as the men at the majors (they do at most tournaments which are best two of three). But tennis is one of the few (if only) sports they get paid the same: https://www.totalsportek.com/tennis/wim ... ize-money/

It's probably also one of the few where TV revenue is comparable...But tennis is one of the few (if only) sports they get paid the same

Re: 5 sets for the ladies?
It's also the only sport where I prefer to watch the women play rather than the men; the games always appear to be a lot more competitive and do not depend on strong arming the ball. I think there are a lot of people like me.

BigRR, have you watched my Swiss boyfriend? While he can hit hard, his game is far more about finesse. Ballet on the courts. And Rafa, while strong and powerful is also a lot about speed and shot placement. Great documentary came out the other week --- well worth the time (it has been available on Tennis channel and on the CW).

The ladies game is more topsy-turvy, and sometimes that is a lot more fun, but I also really enjoy watching the elites of the elite play and battle it out. It's inspiring.

Oh don't get me wrong, there's a lot of very good men's tennis, and it is not all smashes with few returns; I enjoy watching men's tennis as well. I just prefer the women's game (and as for it being topsy turvy, I also prefer the clay courts of the French Open for the variables the clay surface adds.

Tennis? Worth watching to see that grass growing. It's be a lot better if they kept the grunting people off it.
