Jim--So I went to be registered as a violent sexual predator, and then I found out it wasn't an online dating service? Why would they give me such a studly title if they didn't expect me to use it to attract the women?

Humor -- it's made up of both cognitive and conceptual components. Abstract or concrete. I feel it has to do with how close the subject hits to an individual's personal values.
During Cosby's recent trips to court he could be viewed carrying a carnival barker's cane. I saw it as inviting the public into the midway freak show, but others saw it as a device used to facilitate walking to the handicapped.
I think I'll keep this thread in "Laffs," thank you.
“In a world whose absurdity appears to be so impenetrable, we simply must reach a greater degree of understanding among us, a greater sincerity.”
But now there is news that the prosecutors and the defense have reached an agreement that will give 'America's Dad' less than 30 months in the slammer.

snailgate.
And probably house arrest to boot. At least he gets to be known as a "sexually violent predator."

I just heard that the judge sentenced Cosby to 3 to 10 years and registered sex offender status, and refused to stay the sentence pending appeal. If he isn't starting right away, he will be starting his jail sentence soon.
Cosby of course, (Like OJ Simpson and Michael Jackson) has received "celebrity treatment" not "black treatment" from the legal system his entire adult life...
It's difficult to take a lot of satisfaction from this result, given how long his celebrity status and star power enabled him to wreak his sadistic cruelty on so many lives before at least some measure of justice was finally meted out...
I take some additional sense of justice from the fact that he has lived long enough to know that his legacy, reputation, and the phony public image that he so carefully cultivated for so many decades have been completely destroyed. Near universal affection and respect has been replaced with revulsion and contempt. Every honor he received has been withdrawn, every tribute retracted, and he will get to spend whatever time he has left on this earth with the knowledge that he will be remembered solely for his villainy...
And there's some additional justice in the fact that his wife/business manager Camille will likewise live out the rest of her life as his disgraced enabler, rather than basking in the glow of the faux Bill Cosby facade that she also devoted so much of her life to creating...

well, to be fair, Jackson tried his best to change from being black--he was more like an ashy white.
I remember one time on the TV an old Jacson 5 clip came on, and my daughter (around 14-15 at the time) wouldn't believe the little one up from was Michael because he was black.
