Allow me to add my two cents worth to this discussion of the pejorative term, "honkie".

A Bohemian is a resident of Bohemia, a region of the Czech Republic or the former Kingdom of Bohemia, a region of the former Crown of Bohemia (lands of the Bohemian Crown). In English, the word "Bohemian" was used to denote the Czech people as well as the Czech language before the word "Czech" became prevalent in the early 20th century. During the 19th century, little attempt was made to distinguish between ethnic Slavic-speaking Bohemians and other inhabitants of Bohemia (the latter were mostly ethnic Germans), if any effort was made at all, with the end result being that a lot of Eastern Europeans were lumped together as 'Bohemians' ... and this being 19-th century, openly racist America, of course, it was no time at all before these people were being referred to by the mildly-offensive, less-flattering nickname of 'Bohunks'.

From 'Bohunks' it was only a small, baby step to 'Hunkie' and from there, in the 1960s, to 'honkie' (which, mr. liberty, is the correct spelling).

And lest you think I'm pulling this completely out of my ass, I was born and raised in an area of Wisconsin which was home to not just Germans and Scandinavians but also a fair number of people from what eventually became Czchoslovakia and the surrounding regions; in fact, "Bohemian Hall", a tavern/dance hall/gathering place was originally opened in the 1890s and remained open until one of our local hospitals 'expanded its campus' further into what had been a residential neighborhood about ten years, buying up homes and properties for use as parking lots. I know, first-hand, whereof I speak.
