Stand Your Ground?
Re: Stand Your Ground?
POS racist sheriff and DA would be charging the case if the colors were reversed, I have zero doubt. Getting shoved - even ‘violently’ - doesn’t lead to a reasonable apprehension of imminent serious bodily injury or death when the shover is walking away from the shovee. He’s a murdering piece of shit and deserves to rot in prison along with the loud music murderer - but he’ll get away with it because of the good ol’ boys system.
Handicapped parking spots at busy convenience stores are routinely used by the able bodied who spend less than 10 minutes in the store; in this case, there was even someone in the car ready to drive away if a truly handicapped person pulled up and needed the spot. At best this is an offense deserving of a $300 ticket; it’s definitely not deserving of a threatening verbal attack. I hope the victim’s wife/girlfriend sues the convenience store for failing to safeguard customers by getting a no trespass order against this murdering bastard a long time ago.

Stand Your Ground?
It used to be, if I pulled up to a "handitarded" spot being occupied by someone that shouldn't be there, I'd say something... even have my placard in hand. More often than not, I'd just get icy stares and comments like they merely forgot their placard and for me to find another spot. Most drivers who behave this way know that very few people will ever confront them, and also know they'll get away with it.BoSoxGal wrote:... When I called police, and if they decided to show up, they would approach the driver as to why they should not be parked there. The driver would then move -- NEVER being issued a ticket. Once the quasi-scofflaw moved I'd be stupid taking the spot for fear of my car being keyed once the cop leaves. Police treat these complaints as "nuisance calls." And that $300 fine on the sign is mostly a scare tactic. PDs have more skin in the game for expired parking meters, not handicapped spots where they need to confront people.
What also galls me is that the police usually ask me if I'm handicapped, and if I have a permit. I see that as blatant discrimination yet it then becomes my fault that they had to show up. Never mind the fact that any able-bodied citizen can make a complaint, but they won't because they couldn't care less about the spot or any handicapped driver, for that matter.
If the Florida shooter is found to be handicapped I can understand his frustration, certainly not his method. He had an easy-to-win civil suit, with a substantial cash-grab, until he pulled the gun. He'll now have to live with the consequences of his actions... or not. I still feel the authorities will not prosecute this case.
As our president always says, " we'll see, and when we know we'll be able to see the difference. Just wait and see, for sure."

“In a world whose absurdity appears to be so impenetrable, we simply must reach a greater degree of understanding among us, a greater sincerity.”
Re: Stand Your Ground?
I understand your frustration Ray, and many people who have no business doing so will use handicapped spots, but in our area the police routinely ticket them and the courts uphold the tickets (it's a big cash inflow to the town); I was even in court once where the judge fined the person $350 for parking in a handicapped space in the winter when you could not see the lot surface and a pile of snow obscured the sign. Howeve, frustration or not, it's pretty idiotic to act as a [arking enforcer and rant at people; most would probably just respond with a few choice words , but some might react more violently (like this guy did).
As for prosecution, other than racism, I can see no reason not to prosecute this case; justified in the confrontation or not, he appears to have had no justification for shooting the victim; the guy was walking away and unarmed, and it looks like he was just pissed off and shot him. At the very least, there are issues for a jury to decide.

Re: Stand Your Ground?
I stopped by a library on the way home viewed this video. I agree there does seem to be something wrong with the way the little guy is standing. I would suspect he does have some type of physical disability. And there is a difference between this video and the one shown on CBS News. The one on CBS shows more of what happened.
I am naturally going to be bias towards any bully anytime and anyplace and it doesn’t matter what race, religion or ethnicity he may be. When I was a child I was bullied not by another child but by my stepfather, a giant of a man; I would have tried to kill any kid that tried to bully me. I did leave significant marks on a couple kids that tried and got kicked out of two schools, one of them catholic. I don’t know why he hated me so much I looked like him, but he knew that my father was Mexican and that might have had something to do with it. But at any rate, my mother saved my life when she kicked him out of the house. However, I still have a burning hatred of bullies to this day.
Putting that to one side, it looks to me that the big guy was a bully. How can I say that? I know it because his starting point was violence. He didn’t try to talk or deescalate or drive away since they were in wrong by parking in a handicapped spot. He could have stood between his family and the little guy, but he chose violence. He was big and thought he could do whatever he wanted to a smaller man. But I noticed how he turned into a coward after he was shot. He didn’t take the gun away from the little guy and make him eat it; he turned and ran away deserting his girlfriend and children.
Some of you guys are racist because race made a difference to you, but it made no difference to me. As far as I am concerned no bully has a right to live.

It's difficult to think of any statement you've ever made that is more crass, offensive, stupid and pathetic. But I noticed how he turned into a coward after he was shot.
Not that there isn't - but for the moment I can't think of one.

I am sorry for the family but I have no sympathy for bullies. He didn’t need to fight he chose it. His family was in no danger. Words never killed anyone. Re: Stand Your Ground?
You really don't have a clue, do you, lib?
The point is not whether or not the man was a bully but your use of the word "coward" in connection with a man who has just been given a fatal bullet wound.
You, being a true descendant of the Khans, would have ripped the bullet from your chest, sewed up the wound and then beaten the other guy senseless while roaring defiance at the hoards of Rus standing open-mouthed in awe of your superhuman bravery.

If you will remember I didn’t start the nastiness, but I have just much right be nasty as anyone else.
I have already admitted that I went overboard with you what else do you want reparation payments. However, I feel my characterization of Stalin’s comrade is right on and the other two creatures they love it; it is like vitamins to them it makes for a happy healthy life. I don’t pretend to understand it, but hell there is a lot perversion I don’t understands.
But there is good news: I need to do some maintenance on my computer and if it doesn’t work out I might not be back much if any. I have decided I will not buy another computer. I will not buy an item when I think the price is more than it is worth.

"Nastiness" ? ? ? Most of the labels for Liberty I have read here have been legitimate objective summaries of his posts on this site. To call someone a Bitch or whore or Stalin's comrade are only justified by behavior outside this forum and are further examples of his peculiar mental processes.

I have a mentally disabled son and greasy ass knows it. He uses the term village idiot which was used to refer to people like my son. You can’t get much nastier than to mock the retarded. He might as well use the N word when referring to a black person.Burning Petard wrote:"Nastiness" ? ? ? Re: Stand Your Ground?
The mentally-handicapped are NOT called "retarded" but developmentally disabled.
Get up to speed and get with the program if not for your sake but for your son's.

Re: Stand Your Ground?
Did I call your son the village idiot, or did I reserve that term for you? Then what the fuck are you on about? And how does anything I did justify calling Sue and Guin bitch and whore?
A more introspective person might wonder, given that you have a mentally disabled son, why it is YOU, and not him, that people are labeling an idiot.
And it's a joke that you're still trying to turn the fact that I get fucked in the ass into an insult or that you would imagine that I feel shamed by it in some way. Perhaps the next time you use that name for me I should post some home video to show just how unashamed I am about people knowing that I get fucked in the ass.

Arrested and charged today with manslaughter! Kudos to the prosecutor’s office for having more balls - and being less racist - than the Sheriff’s Dept.

When a bully is killed it should be a time for celebration not prosecution. What he can’t be a bully because he was black, isn’t that racist?

To be clear, I do not feel in the slightest bit "bullied" by the village idiot, whose flaccid utterances are more analogous to the buzzing of a mosquito devoid of a stinger. And I'm sure that calling Sue and Guin "bitch" and "whore" are his way of saying how much they remind him of his mother and wife.
