I did mean to write about Trump's twit of a few days ago. "TREASON?" He might want to take a look at his pocket copy of the Constitution, which I know Mr Khan handed to him. Article 3, Section 3:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

Wes might be right about sedition. It has been defined and redefined over the years but is not mentioned in the Constitution.

If " many Trump appointees have vowed . . ." - what is 'many'? I'd have to speculate that it means 10 or so, of presumably a fairly limited number who have the ability to actually carry out any thwarting. If that means taking stuff off his desk, or telling inappropriate jokes so that he forgets what he was doing, or sending soft porn images to his iPhone (same reasoning) or just temporarily hacking into his Twatter account and changing his password (he calls the IT guy down the corridor - "I've typed in 'imtwosexy' five times and it still doesn't work!") that really can't be a huge number. So how did these people identify each other? If you are going to conspire to thwart someone you probably don't send out a memo (To: WhiteHouseAll - Those of you who want to join a concerted effort to interfere with the more ludicrous efforts of POTUS please join me in Conference Room 2 at 1130 for a brown bagger. Coffee and donuts will be provided and maybe pizza if I can persuade Gen Kelly to free up a few bucks from the Employee Wellness Fund! See you there!) but you need to identify likely fellow conspirators somehow. So unless there's something in that NYT Op-Ed piece that could reasonably be interpreted to be an incitement to imminent violence, (here's a hint: there isn't) then in no way shape or form could it constitute "seditious speech" under US law.

"Sedition" appears to be the New Trumpanzee Word For The Week; to them it apparently means "Any speech which is embarrassing, hurtful, or damaging to The Leader"...

Fortunately, since we still live in the United States of America rather than Trumpistan, (sorry wes) that definition is meaningless as a matter of law.
