Unfuckingbelieveable.

I believe that the majority of sexual harassment incidents go unreported. The majority of sexual ASSAULTS go unreported. And while I will entertain the idea that some sexual assault allegations are false, I believe that the vast majority are true.

Over the last 2+ years, I have learned a lot of things.

One: Every single woman I know has been the victim of sexual harassment. Every. Single. One.
Two: Relating those incidents to ANYONE is extremely painful. Even decades later.
Three: Men are pigs.
Four: "Nice Guys" aren't.

It's about respect. Not everyone is OK with a game of grabass in the locker room. So while I suppose there MIGHT be a woman out there that likes getting catcalled by a potbellied 50 year old, the vast majority don't. And that goes for a hot 20 something guy too; just because a guy is fit, rich, and handsome doesn't give him a pass on making passes on coworkers. Or jumping a girl at a party.

Thanks, LJ.  That's the word I was looking for.  I had originally typed in 'misandrogynist' but it didn't look right (and my spell-check didn't like it either, and still doesn't) so I started to replace it and never got back to finding the right word.

But my point still stands.  If BSG is OK with visualizing a man as nothing more than the appendage between his legs, as the cartoon she posted does, then she really has no ground to stand on and rant from if men reduce women to just the slit between theirs.  They're both wrong.

That cartoon is not about ALL men; it’s about 10 men who decided not to believe a woman’s testimony about being sexually assaulted before she even opened her mouth. It’s about 10 men who hired a career sex crimes prosecutor to question alleged victim and alleged perpetrator, called her a ‘female assistant’, and shut her down the minute she started focusing in on a date on the alleged perpetrator’s magic exculpating calendar that actually served to corroborate the victim’s allegations. It’s about ten men who hid behind this female prosecutor so they would appear civil and respectful of the alleged victim, while going on camera in the hallways to undermine her, then going on rants in the second half of the hearing essentially calling her a tool of a left-wing conspiracy - thus revealing they had no respect for her and did not at all believe her.

The 'female assistant' who was there to provide cover for the 11 Republican men - Rachel Mitchell - has now said that there is not enough evidence to bring a criminal case against Kavanaugh. Rachel Mitchell is the Public Prosecutor from Maricopa County, Arizona. (In case that rings any bells, the sheriff of Maricopa County was, for a long time, Joe Arpaio. I don't know how many counties there are in the US - OK, Mr Google does - 3141 - so what are the chances that selecting a random sex crimes prosecutor will end up with this person? And, BTW, I have not seen this curious coincidence reported anywhere.) Now I am not casting any aspersions on her competence, and at one point she did say something along the lines that this five minute time quanta system was not the best way of getting to the truth - but she was never asked to assess this from a criminal perspective. Based on what I have seen so far, and I am firmly in Dr Ford's court - if I were on a jury looking at the evidence I think I would vote to acquit. I am not sure that I or anyone can be 95% certain.

However, I am 100% certain, based on his performance in the hearing room and his obvious lying about things which can be checked - Devil's Triangle a drinking game - really??? - that Kavanaugh is not suitable for the SCOTUS. He lied. Case closed.

This is strange; as andy said, I also didn't know that she was hired to opine on whether criminal charges could or could not be brought, and I am also surprised that a prosecutor would make this statement before an ongoing investigation was done.

FWIW, I don't think anyone has said there is sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges, but so what? this is not a criminal investigation, it's a review to determine if the candidate should sit on the highest court in the US.

I don't necessarily need to see Kavanaugh go to jail, I just want to see him go... anywhere but to the SCOTUS.

Of course, in a civil case all that's needed is a "preponderance of the evidence" to deem who is most believable. Unfortunately, I fear, this tribunal of old white men has already "prepondered" for someone created in their own image.

Keep in mind, the Lord Dampnut/Pence 'consortium' will probably get to choose two more justices before their reign is done.

I think it was despicable of Rachel Mitchell to accept the role of inquisitor at Thursday’s hearings, and it was beyond despicable for her to write the letter opining on criminal charges which aren’t even in the realm of the conversation here - doing so only serves to cloud the issues and add to the hyper partisan screeching.

She’s an embarrassment to sex crimes prosecutors everywhere and I can attest that I am by no means alone in that opinion, including among plenty of conservative Republican sex crimes prosecutors.

Kavanaugh attempted via text messages to shape the stories from former Yale classmates in regards to the Debbie Ramirez allegation, apparently prior to the New Yorker article, which he claimed under oath to know NOTHING ABOUT! He and his team were sending messages to his Yale classmates, trying to establish that he and Ms. Ramirez were friends and so her allegation couldn't be true.

A former Texas doctor who raped a heavily sedated patient won't serve prison time after he was found guilty of the crime Thursday.

Shafeeq Sheikh, a former Baylor College of Medicine physician, was sentenced to 10 years' probation Friday, and he must now register as a sex offender.

Jurors recommended the sentencing, which visiting Senior District Judge Terry L. Flenniken was required to follow by law, according to the Houston Chronicle.

In 2013, a woman, identified in local media as Laura, checked into Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. She was being treated for shortness of breath and wheezing; she was kept overnight and sedated.

Police said Dr. Shafeeq Sheikh went into her room several times through the night and sexually assaulted her.

In the hospital, Laura tried calling for help, but the nurse's button was unplugged.

Sheikh admitted to sexual contact but told jurors it was consensual, according to the Houston Chronicle. The woman was not assigned as Sheikh's patient, the Houston Chronicle reported.

A rape kit tied Sheikh to the crime and hospital cameras caught him on the same floor as the patient who was assaulted. Two years after the assault, he was charged.

Sheikh no longer works at the hospital. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texas Medical Board revoked his license in 2015.

In an interview with KHOU-TV, Laura said she believes there are other victims.

"Of course, yes, and the reason I think so is because this person had everything very organized," she told the Houston TV station. "I'm not only Laura; I represent lots of women, women who've been raped and mistreated."
