Re: Name That Movie!
Him (for it is he): What do you think you'll do?
Uncle "Lord" Jim: What, if you don't clear out?
L'homme: Yes.
Uncle "L-Boy" Jim: Coo, you'd better. 'Ere, what won't I do to you once I start on yer? I'll make a mess of you. I'll do you injuries. I'll kick you ugly. I'll 'urt you in 'orrible ways, 'orrible ugly ways. You'll cry to see yourself.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

As Meade said in a different thread, the movie was History of Mr Polly. In Meade's absence, and as it appears likely I may have been the only person besides Meade who saw it, I'll claim the win and offer a new quote:
it goes back a while, but it was pretty popular and I'd bet a number of people here have seen it. It is in the horror genre and has the distinction of being the first movie to use a scene that now has become almost a cliché (but still used) in horror movies.I should've killed myself when he put it in me. After the first time, before we were married, Ralph promised never again. He promised, and I believed him. But sin never dies. Sin never dies. At first, it was all right. We lived sinlessly. We slept in the same bed, but we never did it. And then, that night, I saw him looking down at me that way. We got down on our knees to pray for strength. I smelled the whiskey on his breath. Then he took me. He took me, with the stink of filthy roadhouse whiskey on his breath, and I liked it. I liked it! With all that dirty touching of his hands all over me. I should've given you to God when you were born, but I was weak and backsliding, and now the Devil has come home.
Re: Name That Movie!
One more quote:
Oh, Lord! Help this sinning woman see the sin of her days and ways. Show her that if she had remained sinless, this curse of blood would never have come down on her!

And we have a winner--over to you Scooter.
Re: Name That Movie!
This movie did not make a big splash when it came out, but hardly a week goes by when I don't see it being re-run on TV:
-- (referring to the steaming hot water filling the toilet) This is really bad, isn't it?
-- Well, it's not good. Unless you want to give your ass a facial.
-- That's a contradiction in terms.
-- I guess it would be more like an ass-cial.

-- Think of your inner voice.

One of my favorite actors, since she first won my heart in The Outsiders.

You know, I never made that connection before, now that you said it I'm like fuck of course it was her.

Re: Name That Movie!
I just watched her this weekend in one of her two costarring roles with Richard Gere - SO much to slobber over! She and Meryl Streep were my first and strongest girl crushes as a teenager - and of course Gere in that Officer & Gentleman movie was the end all be all of male perfection, in my adolescent judgment.
Anyway, this movie is just lovely - I think I’ll go watch it again now, since you’ve brought it to mind.

Those clues seem like a big arrow pointing to:

Re: Name That Movie!
Change of genre; saw this on a long flight this weekend.
R: What are you doing?
N: What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone.
R: I don't understand.
N: 'Cause there is a dead man on the other end of this fuckin' line
