have you seen the videos of the brainwashed morons?
Sure, but then I think you and I are talking about different videos.
there is no shame in being a carpenter....
Why would there be? Or a mechanic (like one of my best friends and my brother in law.), or an electrician, or an HVAC mechanic (like my father in law). Indeed, any honest work is worthy of respect (including barristas (not sure why you have a problem with them). fast food workers, doctors, veterinarians, lawyers, accountants, ... the list can go on and on).

Oh man, I know what you mean...

Here's a video clip of a bunch of brainwashed morons actually cheering for a congressman physically assaulting a reporter (an assault for which he pled guilty):

I wish I could get the drool bucket concession for Trump rallies...

I'd make a fortune...

They are doing something few of them have done before, petitioning their government. If they are inexpert or defer too much to authority that is only to be expected and any mistakes they make are swamped by the virtue of making an effort to begin with; which is more than you have done.

They are better people than you are.

You know that’s a bunch of bullshit. If you cared about convincing people you were aight you would answer the questions posed and not deflect them. You’d stay on subject or at the very least thy to explain what they don’t “get”.

Excellent advice, but apparently somebody didn't get the memo:
Pelosi predicts Dems will take back the House

Image

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said late Tuesday that Democrats will retake control of the House in the midterm elections.

"Let me say this. Up until today, I would've said, 'If the election were held today, we would win,' " Pelosi said on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

"What now I'm saying is, 'We will win,' "
she added.

Late-night host Stephen Colbert responded by saying that her confidence could jinx the party's prospects, noting Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's loss in the 2016 election.

"Do you want to say that on Hillary's fireworks barge that she canceled? Please don't say that. ... And how long are the curtains that you're measuring right now?" Colbert joked.

"No, we're not measuring," Pelosi replied. "We're just walking precincts and if everyone votes, we'll have even a bigger victory. But Democrats will carry the House. If we have a bigger victory, the Senate, governorships, it's going to be a great night for America."

Nice move Nance...

Pelosi has been a headwind for numerous Democratic Congressional candidates for the whole campaign, and now she has helpfully cut a last minute campaign commercial for Republicans to use who are running in close races the Dems need to win ... :shrug

The only things that those comments can possibly accomplish are to serve as a taunting motivation to vote to Republicans who might otherwise have stayed home, and send the message to Democratic voters that it's in the bag so if it's too much of a hassle for them, they needn't bother to vote...

You'd think a pol who has been around as long as she has would know better than to commit such a boneheaded unforced error...

I suspect her hubris overcame her judgement...

Set the country back 50 years? That would put Richard Nixon in the White House. Right now ol' Tricky Dick looks like a paragon of wisdom and competency, compared to the present POTUS.

I can't wait till Tuesday when I get that middle class income tax cut he promised. The press secretary has clearly stated POTUS is so very effective and always does what he promised.I am waiting to see just what all those troops on the Southern Border actually do. The are forbidden by federal law from joining any actual law enforcement within the borders of the USA, and Mexico will not accept our invading that country to 'stop' this invasion that is so scary with all those strong young men who are so scary even when they are a thousand miles from our border. Now that is really scary. Even worse, some of them are MIDDLE EASTERNERS, you know, like from Israel or Saudi Arabia.

I see he's backtracked a bit on that one...

Believing he's gotten the propaganda value of looking like Mr. Tough Guy to his xenophobic followers, (to that twisted bunch, the use of automatic weapons fire by trained troops against teenagers throwing rocks qualifies as "tough") he's now just saying that those who throw rocks at the US troops that he is sending to the border for no reason will "go to prison for a long time"...

Perhaps someone explained to him what a slam dunk article of impeachment, "In violation of his oath of office in his capacity as Commander In Chief, Donald J Trump issued unlawful orders to American troops..." would be...

Isn't the whole sending the military to enforce domestic laws on U.S. soil thing a violation of Posse Comitatus?

Gee whiz, is it possible that after seeing it predicted in every single election cycle that I can remember (only to see that it didn't happen after the results were in) that this might be the year that the yoots, finally, at long last, actually do turn out to vote?
Young and new voters surge in early voting

Hundreds of thousands of new voters are showing up to cast their ballots early in the weeks before the midterm elections, fueling Democratic hopes that a younger electorate may help them over the finish line in key states.

The number of voters between the ages of 18 and 29 who have cast ballots early has surpassed turnout levels from the last midterm election in just about every state, according to several sources tracking early vote totals.

In some states, especially those with hot races, the increase in turnout is staggering. In Texas, 332,000 voters under the age of 30 have cast ballots already, up nearly fivefold from the 2014 midterms. In Nevada, the 25,000 young voters who have cast a ballot is also five times higher than in the same period four years ago.

More than three-quarters of a million voters have cast ballots for the first time, TargetSmart’s analysis found. A third of that total comes in Texas alone, where 213,000 first-time voters have already cast ballots.

Still, while younger voters are heading to the polls in record numbers, they continue to make up a disproportionately small percentage of the electorate. Because so few younger voters showed up in 2014, new records are easier to set.

“The youth vote is higher than 2014 so far, but so few young people have voted at this point it is not hard to double the numbers,” said Michael McDonald, a University of Florida political scientist who tracks early voting totals. “Young people tend to vote in larger numbers during the week prior to the election, and we're seeing some evidence that young people are indeed starting to turn out.”

Consider Georgia, where 114,866 voters between the ages of 18 and 29 had already cast a ballot. That represents nearly 21 percent of all 18-29 year olds who are registered to vote in the state, a 369 percent increase over the same period in 2014.

But those voters represent just 8 percent of the overall electorate that has voted so far. Seniors, those over the age of 65, represent more than a third of the electorate; among the oldest voters, 473,000 have showed up to vote already, a 78 percent increase over 2014 levels.

“Age will continue to be a pretty darn good predictor of turnout,” Bonier said. “What these signs are pointing to is that the gap [between older and younger voters] is going to be significantly reduced.”

Young voters are disproportionately likely to sit out election days. Just 4 in 10 voters between 18 and 29 said they would vote this year, according to a poll conducted for the Harvard Institute of Politics.

But those youngest voters are also the most likely to favor Democrats. The Harvard poll found younger voters favored Democrats over Republicans in the battle for Congress by a 66 percent to 32 percent margin.

So far this year, nearly 24 million people have cast ballots early, according to statistics McDonald maintains. Already, 17 states — including hot spots like Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin — have surpassed the number of early votes cast in the entirety of the 2014 election.

Well, while the early numbers show some signs of improvement, you can still color me skeptical...

I've seen the Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football routine on this one so many times, I'll wait till the final vote tally is in...

ETA:

In the off-year elections last November, and all the special elections since 2016, while the African American vote and the white suburban women's vote has been way up over the averages for those groups for comparable elections, (in the special election to fill Jeff Session's seat in Alabama, the African American turnout was actually higher than it was for Barack Obama in 2012, and almost as high as it was for Obama in 2008, despite the fact that it was a special election and the Democratic candidate was a white male moderate) despite all their huffing and puffing, the numbers for the youth vote have remained mired in their usual abysmal non-factor percentages...
