Looks like down-ballot races can have some good news too:
Kim Davis, clerk who refused to sign marriage licenses for gay couples, loses to Democrat

MOREHEAD - Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk made famous by her refusal to sign marriage licenses for gay couples, lost Tuesday in her reelection bid for the Rowan County clerkship.

Davis, a Republican, lost to Democratic challenger Elwood Caudill Jr. by about 700 votes.

Her loss marks at least a temporary end to the saga that has surrounded the clerk’s office since 2015, when Davis was jailed for five days after refusing to sign marriage licenses for gay couples.

“I believe that as a community we must continue to work together toward a more prosperous and cohesive Rowan County,” Caudill said after his win. “Tonight was awesome.”

The controversy launched this mostly-rural Kentucky county into the national spotlight. It gave Davis a hero’s reputation to some on the right, including Gov. Matt Bevin and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who lauded her decision as a self-sacrificing expression of religious liberty.

For many on the left, though, Davis was condemned. Critics called her refusal to sign marriage licenses a bigoted neglect of her official duties.

The polls here in California just closed a few minutes ago. The live coverage I'm viewing shows:

Cox
54%

Gavin Newsom
46%

which is quite shocking, but it's very early.

it looks like just about every state wide office in Michigan are going blue. including all ballot initiatives which include from smallest margin to largest legalizing marijuana, independent redistricting and enshrining voting rules in the state constitution. (ability to vote straight ticket and ease of voter registration etc.)
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

The redistricting change is huge leading up to a census year in a state as gerrymandered as Michigan.

I don't put it past the state legislature to drag its feet on creating the independent commission until after the next census where it will look for a way to further undermine it. Fact is all of these initiatives are a response to the state legislature blatantly ignoring the will of the voters.

Sharing a brilliant post from another forum - poster by the name of Mr. Robot says:
Hey Trumpbots? Despite a 'BOOMING' economy (which is not actually booming)...you lost control of the House.

Looks good on you, you xenophobic, un-American, racist, misogynistic, uneducated, stupid, mostly old, hicks from the sticks.

And it's all thanks to your lunatic Messiah...Trump. It takes a pretty, big loser POTUS to lose the House with a sub-4% unemployment rate.

I can hear him starting to quack already.

Bye bye Trump in 2020.

Both in districts that are so off-the-scale Republican that the GOP could have run a broomstick and got it elected.

I was disappointed to see the oath of office violating, obstruction of justice co-conspiring, scumbag Devin Nunes was re-elected...

The good news is at least he will no longer be Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee...

And it looks like another California Quisling, Dana Rohrabacher (R-Moscow) may go down to a narrow defeat...

So looking at the evolution of the electoral map, the Republican Party has entrenched itself as the choice of those who fuck their cows, marry their sisters and have fewer teeth than fingers.
