Mob chants threats outside Tucker Carlson’s DC home
A self-described left-wing Antifa group posted videos of a mob outside the Washington, D.C., home of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Wednesday evening, chanting, 'Tucker Carlson, we will fight. We know where you sleep at night.'
A self-described left-wing Antifa group posted videos of a mob outside the Washington, D.C., home of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Wednesday evening, chanting, “Tucker Carlson, we will fight. We know where you sleep at night.”
The now-deleted video was posted on social media by Smash Racism, D.C. The same group made headlines in September after activists confronted Sen.Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and his wife inside a restaurant during Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearings.
The group posted on Facebook that Carlson spreads "fear into our homes," and said it wanted to even the score.
"Each night you remind us that we are not safe. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either," the group posted. They also chanted, "Racist s---bag, leave town."
The post was later removed.
Carlson, host of "Tucker Carlson Tonight," was not home at the time. He said his wife, Susie, was home alone and heard the commotion from the kitchen. She called the police and locked herself into a pantry, he said. His brother -- who lives close by -- arrived about the same time as law enforcement.
The host said activists rang his doorbell, broke his oak door and one protester was apparently caught on security video mentioning a pipe bomb.
D.C. police did not immediately respond to a Fox News email early Thursday.
Carlson said he was at the Fox News office in Washington working on his opening monologue when neighbors texted him about the commotion outside his home. His wife of 22 years did not contact him because she didn’t want to distract him before he went on air, he said.
The group eventually scattered. It was unclear if there were any arrests. Carlson said the group posted online the home addresses of his brother and his former college roommate, Neil Patel, who co-founded the Daily Caller with Carlson.
Carlson said he is used to being confronted in public and has no interest in playing the role of victim, but he said his wife and his four children should not have to be exposed to the aggression while at home.
“Here’s the problem, I have four children,” he said by phone. “I never thought twice about leaving them home alone, but this is the reaction because this group doesn’t like my TV show.”
Twitter reportedly removed a photo of Carlson’s home address that was posted by the group. Smash Racism DC's account was suspended early Thursday.
Brit Hume, a Fox News commentator, took to Twitter to denounce the protest as “revolting, and frightening.”

I don't know; maybe because he didn't file a complaint? If he chose to do so, I would be surprised if someone was not charged. And even you post didn't say no one was arrested or charged; it says "It was unclear if there were any arrests."Why were members of mob not charged with assault?
And as for a man being jailed because he said he "didn't like puerto rico", I couldn't find this--perhaps you could post a link. I seriously doubt that your account is true.
Re: Justify this
I thing he’s talking about the drunk who was accosting a woman in full view of a police officer because her shirt depicted the Puerto Rican flag.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Justify this
Tucker Carlson chooses to enrich himself through pushing hate and fear on his FOX show; he wasn’t always like that and he made a conscious decision to pursue that path because it was lucrative. Period.
He’s made himself a public figure like any media personality or politician and he therefore subjects himself - and his family by extension - to protests, or fanboys, or whatever. Nobody was harmed and it doesn’t sound like anything was said that was any more hateful or threatening than the filth Tucker spews on a nightly basis. No tears for Tucker from this quarter.

Liberty - I do you more credit than to assume that you agree with and support, say, the Westboro Baptist Church thugs, just because some of their politics and/or religious views align with some of yours.
I'd like to see an end to racism and right wing violence (letter bombs, attack on Pittsburgh synagogue, attack on black customers at a Louisville supermarket just in the last couple of weeks - if you want to go back to the Murrah building or the Pulse nightclub we can) so I share some of the political views of the 'antifa' people. But I don't support going to Carlson's house and scaring his family even though the man is obviously a turd. Apart from anything else such as wanting a general civility in political discourse (which, BTW, has been almost entirely abandoned by the current right wing administration) it's counterproductive - why give these assholes any more publicity and ammunition than they already have?
So go elsewhere to complain.

I think I saw him once on Fox and I heard him a couple times on the radio. What I saw and heard was not hate and fear it was news and opinion. I think he did the piece on white farmer killing in South Africa. Was that hate and fear?

Indeed, I'm old enough to remember when Tucker was an independent Libertarian-conservative, with a show on MSNBC...(His show was part of the evening line-up with Chris Matthews' Hardball, and Joe Scarborough's Scarborough Country)Tucker Carlson chooses to enrich himself through pushing hate and fear on his FOX show; he wasn’t always like that
In fact he gave Rachel Maddow her start in television by having her as a regular contributor on that show...

Re: Justify this
I agree as well; and even if the protesting and harassment is not a crime (and I'm not sure if it is or not), the pipe bomb threat clearly would be. To me, the people protesting at his house is similar to the anti-abortion crowd going to the house of a doctor or someone else who worked there; I think it's a thinly veiled threat (like saying watch out, we know where you live). But I would be interested in understanding what the law is, and if whether he is a public figure makes it any different.
Re: Justify this
I wish people would stop assuming there was a pipe bomb threat; that's what the OP article wants you to think, but it's very carefully worded as "a pipe bomb was mentioned", which quite clearly could include one of the protesters pointing to Carlson's disgusting comments about the pipe bombs sent to 2 former Presidents and several other Democrat politicians and/or activists as a likely false flag operation.
Use your brains, please! If someone threatened his family with a pipe bomb, why didn't Carlson turn the video over to police? Why hasn't he released it publicly to show the violent left for what it is?
BECAUSE TUCKER CARLSON IS A CRAVEN LIAR! He's just like Ann Coulter, he doesn't have any real principles except to line his pockets at any cost, doing ANY work that lines them.
eta: For the record, when Carlson first emerged on a revamped Crossfire program on CNN, I really, really liked him and thought he was a great new voice of conservatism. Then he went off the rails being an uber dick and has since chased every opportunity to reach a new low in his discourse and his treatment of program guests of opposite political stripe. He is the incarnation of what's wrong with American political discourse, because he ABSOLUTELY knows better, but he chooses to go as low as possible and thus sets the example for those who don't know better.

Re: Justify this
BSG--from the Washington Post: "A woman was also overheard in one of the deleted videos saying she wanted to “bring a pipe bomb” to his house." If that is true (and I don't know why the videos are "deleted" so it may not be), I see it as a threat. Also, appearing at his house and saying " We know where you sleep at night" is also a thinly veiled threat IMHO (although it could clearly be spun a number of other ways). the rest of what I have read appears to be pretty much general protected speech, although their are likely harassment laws that could have been broken.
I have absolutely no problem with your assessment of Tucker as a liar and opportunist (there are many in the media--I recall when Geraldio Rivera was denounced as a liberal agitator, they just follow the money).

Sorry Mr. Liberty. I cannot justify any acts by law enforcement officers in Chicago, or DC (by the way those are FEDERAL cops in DC). Somehow those organizations do not pay much attention to activities of this knee-jerk Liberal in Delaware.

It seems obvious that the "thugs" at Carlson's house were crisis actors he hired himself. Until there is definitive proof to the contrary, that is my working assumption. Also, many people have said that he runs a child sex trafficking ring from his basement. So I think you have to take that into consideration, too.
Seriously, from the video clip in the OP, the "mob" may have been as many as OMG 9 (!) people, standing well clear of the property, holding protest signs, and chanting "Racist scumbag leave town." So threat! Much Nazi!
The fact is, nothing shields anyone from the private-action consequences of their speech. People in this country have an absolute right to let Tucker Carlson know they think he is an asshole. It's perfectly fine with me if they do.

Re: Justify this
Liberty asked a fair question: "Why were members of mob not charged with assault?"
I will answer the question directly, from information readily available in high school civics books 70 years ago. If I am wrong under current legal doctrine, I expect one of the actual members of the bar who are also on this BB will correct me
No members of this mob were charged with assault because no assault occurred. "Assault" is offensive touching. Hollering loudly, public announcement of personal information, blocking a public road, breaking a front door may be many things that are unwanted or unlawful, but they aint assault.

NEW ORLEANS —
A scathing social media post of hate, written by a former emergency medical services driver in New Orleans, is drawing a sharp rebuke from City Hall.
"This is upsetting, as the medical director -- I'm completely disturbed," said New Orleans EMS Director Dr. Emily Nichols.
The Facebook post centers on President Donald Trump, and the person writing it makes a threat that if anyone in his ambulance claims to be a Trump supporter, he'll let them die.
Leaders at New Orleans EMS were quick to point out that that person making the post has not been employed since June of this year. They said a cease and desist letter has been sent to him in an effort to make sure it doesn't happen again.
The post was made recently by the former EMS operator, who, when employed by the city, responded to the city's most violent crime scenes.
In his post, the man attaches a picture of EMS operators at the New Orleans headquarters.
In it, the man posted, "I'm utterly disgusted with any Trump voter. You are the most un-American. You are filth, You are slime."
It goes on to say, "I'll start asking if you are a Trump supporter -- if you are, ya'll [sic] will die in my ambulance."
WDSU is not releasing the man's identity since we have not been able to reach him for comment, but city officials said the fact he's making it seem like he still works for New Orleans EMS is very problematic.
"Not only is it frustrating, it's hurtful. The things written are debasing, they're dangerous and they don't reflect us. We offer compassionate care," said Nichols.
"We object to any individual saying they are with EMS when they are not, and we have reached out to this former employee to ask him to stop representing that his views are in any way associated with New Orleans EMS," said Sunni LeBeouf, a New Orleans city attorney.
The city has reported this incident to the state board that oversees EMS operators and to federal authorities. They said they believe the former employee is now working in Rhode Island.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.
