Well, in that case Jarl, congratulations on being a more realistic Trump supporter than our wes:

I'm surprised wes hasn't been by to gloat...

You'd think he'd want to rub our noses in it after such a smashing victory; it must be true, since Trump said it:
Trump declares 'Big Victory' in midterm elections

President Trump declared the 2018 midterm elections a “big victory” Wednesday morning, and said the federal government can “get back to work” now that the elections are over.

“Received so many Congratulations from so many on our Big Victory last night, including from foreign nations (friends) that were waiting me out, and hoping, on Trade Deals,” Trump posted to Twitter Wednesday. “Now we can all get back to work and get things done!”

You don't suppose that wes isn't crowing because he finally realizes Trump is full of shit... :?:

He has been back lurking as recently as yesterday. Cat seems to have gotten his tongue thus far, however.

Okay wes, (even though you've developed posting laryngitis, I know you'll see this) let's compare our midterm election prognostications:

Gee wes, looks like you're becoming more pessimistic...

Let's go to the tape:

Hmm...

Well I guess that's what you get for buying a crystal ball at Walmart...

Now what about me? Oh lookie:

Oh, what's that sound? Someone patting themselves on the back, maybe?

Well deserved, however. Near spot on prognostication.

For the record, that’s pretty much exactly what RealClearPolitics had set as the expected outcomes, by at least three weeks before Election Day (which I am sure LJ consults when developing his prognoses). They expected +2-+3 for the Rs in the Senate and +25-+30 for the Ds in the House (which was exceeded, with the Ds currently at +37 and 3 seats still unresolved). RCP also was smack on for Governors, predicting a +7-+8 pickup for Ds and they got +7.

You couldn't have also predicted the dems taking the Senate, Nostradamus? It would have made things a lot easier.

Priority #1: Repeal the 2001 War Powers Resolution.
  • What is the number one priority I urge upon the new House of Representatives?

Repeal the 2001 War Powers Resolution.

Passed in the panicky aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, separate resolutions in the House and Senate effectively abrogated the Congressional power over declaring war, giving the presidency carte blanche -- without even a time limit -- to order troops and attacks anywhere he chooses.

By a simple majority in the House alone, that blank check can be canceled, with a coda stating clearly that Congress retains its Constitutional authority over declared and undeclared war.

Moreover, given current circumstances in a dizzy-unstable White House, it would be irresponsible not to do this the very first day the new Congress opens session.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.
