So, any feedback from the town hall meeting? We were partying until 3.00 am (life in the old dogs yet)!) It was tempting to stay up and join in, but I was too knackered.

Can a transcript from the chartroom be done? I'd just love to see the full and accurate assessment of the new CSB's needs, from the Troll Trio... :D

Yes Strop. Complete control of the CSB has been handed over to Steve.

Your vote swung it in his favour.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

P.S. Having to get up to have a piss at 3am does not count as part of the partying...

Well, I was there, and saw you, Joe and a few other people pop in a few times, but then popped out again rather quickly. Why didn't you stay and chat?

I would have come, but I had to get the hell out of my house, which was a little kid scream-fest yesterday morning. I went to the office, and can't login to the new CSB from there.

Can you share any of what was discussed? I hoped there might be a thread about it this AM, but there isn't.

We did agree the meeting was called on rather short notice, and that it could have been advertised better. So, he might try again.

Without much input, not much could be said; Gar really wanted a discussion, not just to make announcements. He thought he might start a CSB thread, but again he really wants discussion not derision.

I "popped in", Gar acknowledge my presence and then he logged out.

I went back a couple of times and only saw you & Gar there but no conversation - so I figured the meeting was called off.

We were working on an audio problem, and he was trying some things to restart settings. I recall trying to say Gar would BRB.

When you first show up in chat, it doesn't show any previous posting that may have gone on. Also since we were primarily using the audio function, the chat room doesn't record that conversation for you to see.

The audio was great, because it can be like having a free conference call. Understandably, a few folks don't have mics hooked up but they could have still typed-chat.

It really wasn't well advertised, and more advance notice would have been nice...

I was pretty busy yesterday, and really didn't have much time for it....

Though I did check out who was on line a few times, and I have to admit that if I'd seen a bunch of folks in there, I probably would have carved out a little time just to say howdy.... 8-)

I don't want to enter into chat when I don't have access to all the chat. I am a typing chat person, not a speaking chat person.

Besides, I am still feeling weak from my partying. Fuck I wish I didn't have to go to work today,
Bah!

Certainly, the typing-chat option was open.

Like I said to Gar: this was like the 'Clubbing' phenomena; that you didn't wanna go to a club that wasn't jumpin', but it wasn't gonna jump if no one showed up. :D ;)

I didn't realize there was the ability to speak at the chat room. It would be interesting to hear actual voices, but I'd need enough notice to set aside time - and my guess is because of our time differences all of us would never be able to be in one place at one time.

The audio chat feature, (which works pretty well when it's working...we had a little get together a couple of weeks ago that I joined in on) is what I think really makes it cool.

If it were just typing I, don't think I'd be interested....for one thing I do enough typing as it is, and for another, if we had a large group we'd be typing past each other and it would get confusing....The same thing could happen with audio chat, but I think it would be a lot easier to sort out.....

The time differences, (which admittedly in some cases are significant) I don't see as an insurmountable obstacle...

After all, we all seem to manage to post from different time zones at the same time frequently; I don't see how this would be any different...

With a couple of weeks lead time and sufficient publicity, (including "reminder" publicity) I think it could work just fine.

Maybe start a thread about it and have people who are planning to try to make it post follow ups....Then maybe a reminder email to those who said they'd be coming...

In the meantime, whenever there are few or even a couple of folks are on the board who'd like to have a spontaneous audio chat, I know that works pretty easily too.

BTW, if you don't have a mike, they're not expensive (you can pick one up at Radio Shack for about 12 bucks) or difficult to use....

I don't have a mic. Not sure it would be worth the effort just for chatting in that chat room. I really don't have any other occasion to use a mic. The computer I used to have that was stolen had all the bells and whistles. This one is basic and I won't care if it crashes or is stolen.

I'm pretty much the same as Hen, I prefer the type to the talk. I find in audio chat, with lag and response times varying, connectivity problems and other issues, once you get more than three or four people involved it goes to crap.

And the chance for me to tell certain people what I actually think about them, in audio, would be just toooooo tempting :)

Maybe he could create a second life like room where we could have avatars whooping the tar out of each other. It would be very satisfying to walk up and kick editec right smack in the ass.

Well, we had five people online a few weeks ago; Myself (Loca), Lord Jim, Guinevere, Garaelb and a young man named BadJuJu. That was three different time zones and BadJuJu didn't have a mic, just typed his responses.
I didn't notice any delays, I guess the Reboot Chatroom is up to speed on handling traffic.

The Karaoke night was so much fun, Gar is working on software to play background music. :D

I was also on line with a number of people. Having large areas of nothing from the talking chatters was isolating.

I doubt I will enter again, but then again, I am NOT a chat person and do not want to go into chat.

I only went the once as G invited me. My life is too busy to sit and take the time it requires to be a chatter.
Bah!
