Johannesburg - The Supreme Court in Rwanda has rejected a challenge to a law which says it is a crime to insult the president. The law which was introduced last year means that anyone insulting President Paul Kagame faces between five and seven years in prison, the BBC reported.
Lawyer Richard Mugisha had argued that the law which was introduced last year was unconstitutional as it undermined freedom of expression. The court ruled that it should remain due to the responsibility that the office holds. However, a law that stipulates that writing articles or drawing cartoons which humiliate MPs [are also punishable] should be annulled, the same court ruled.
Mugisha's attempt to also have a law which criminalizes adultery overturned was also rejected by the Supreme Court

I'm afraid I may already have let the cat out of the bag on this one, last September...

I'm sure wes would love to see some law passed like the ones that exist in many Third World authoritarian regimes making it a crime to "insult the dignity of the President" , but then there's that the pesky 1st Amendment again...

And certainly do not inform him about the wishes of our heavenly inspired founding fathers. From Wikipedia:
The Alien and Sedition Acts were four laws passed by the Federalist-dominated 5th United States Congress and signed into law by President John Adams in 1798.[1][nb 1] They made it harder for an immigrant to become a citizen (Naturalization Act), allowed the president to imprison and deport non-citizens who were deemed dangerous (Alien Friends Act of 1798)[2] or who were from a hostile nation (Alien Enemy Act of 1798),[3] and criminalized making false statements that were critical of the federal government (Sedition Act of 1798).
[as far as I can tell, traditional Christian heaven is a totalitarian state, run by a completely non-accountable despot.]
