And in the "do you own a mirror" department...

Post by Scooter »

Rush Limbaugh calling Michelle Obama fat? Rush Limbaugh? I'd post a link to my irony meter but it broke trying to process that one.
WASHINGTON—Michelle Obama is renowned for her toned arms, athletic figure and commitment to fitness.

Yet Rush Limbaugh and other conservative commentators have stepped up their attacks in recent days against Obama’s efforts to combat childhood obesity, a seemingly motherhood-and-apple-pie mission for the first lady that has nonetheless infuriated them for months.

The 46-year-old Obama, they say, is a hypocrite who clearly isn’t following her own advice when it comes to staying healthy.

“The problem is — and dare I say this — it doesn’t look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice,” Limbaugh said on his radio show earlier this week, referring to a meal of short ribs that Obama enjoyed over the weekend on a skiing break in Colorado with her children.

“I’m trying to say that our first lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you.”

Limbaugh’s remarks follow a cartoon last week on conservative Andrew Breitbart’s BigGovernment website that portrayed a plump Obama feasting on a plate of hamburgers while insisting restaurants need to reduce portion sizes and lower the fat content of their meals.

When she’s reminded by her husband, Barack, who sits next to her in the cartoon eating a tiny salad, that her mission might cost him the next presidential election, his wife responds: “Shut up and pass the bacon.”

Breitbart has defended the cartoon.

“Michelle Obama’s work on nutrition issues has gone beyond the normal first lady advocacy into the realm of shaping national policy, so, on this issue, I think she is fair game for criticism,” he said.

Limbaugh also defended his remarks, calling them “highly civil” on Tuesday before adding to the insults: his Obama comments weren’t below the belt, he said — rather, Obama doesn’t look very fit “below the belt.”

Needless to say, the latest attacks against Obama have been met with ridicule.

Wonkette.com, a Washington-based satirical political website, referred sarcastically to Limbaugh, himself overweight, as a “svelte dreamboat” in a post on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Times expressed incredulity.

“Not to put too fine a point on it, but Rush Limbaugh is talking smack about First Lady Michelle Obama’s weight? Rush Limbaugh? And Michelle ‘you-can-cut-glass-with-my-chiselled-biceps’ Obama?”

The daily newspaper in Vail, Colo., also took issue with Limbaugh’s assertion that Obama was “out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving.”

The Vail Daily first reported what Obama ate for dinner over the weekend, but provided more information on Tuesday: the first lady dined on a pickled pumpkin salad with arugula and a braised ancho-chile short rib with hominy wild mushrooms and sautéed kale.

The meal, in fact, was a healthy one consisting of a five-ounce serving of meat braised until most of the fat cooked off. It weighed in at 600 calories, restaurant owner Kelly Liken told the paper.
First he accuses Michael J. Fox of faking his Parkinson's Disease (perhaps he was suspicious because Fox's demeanor reminded him of his own opiate withdrawal) and now the poster child for the porcine set is calling Michelle Obama fat? Will he next be saying that Anne Frank was really a Nazi in disguise?

It's been a couple of months since his name has appeared in the paper what did you expect him to say?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Rush Limbaugh tunes his appeal to the Republican base, people too stupid to come in out of the rain.

As does the whole party.
