I checked and Amazon offers a colorized special edition; no date, but the 70s is a pretty good guess. The commentary includes a track by the master Ray Harryhausen (not sure of the spelling).

Not a remake, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was released for special showings in the theaters.

And I agree with your assessment--this is not higher quality Sci Fi like Forbidden Planet or War of the Worlds, but it is still superior to a lot of the schlock from the 50s and 60s dealing with similar themes. I recall liking it as a kid and seeing it several times.

Yeah, there's a big difference when your flying saucer special effects are done by Harryhausen versus(hmm, that's the second time Lord Jim has used the word "versus"...could that possibly be a clue?) using hub caps hanging from wires...(ala Plan 9 )

Was there a future Sgt. Morgan O'Rourke in this flick?

Okay, here's what we've established:

1.There are flying saucers in the movie

2.The word versus is in the title.

There's no reason on earth why somebody shouldn't be able to get this now...

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I'll agree the argle is a bit tedious, but the bargle is what makes this game interesting.

I know this one, but having just done the previous one, I'm not eligible...

(And even if I were, I'm not enough of a masochist to want to do another one so soon after the last one... )

But that won't stop me from engaging in some folderol:
