And yet NONE of the links you used to start this thread actually had anything to do with public corruption charges or convictions, and your posting today has no link at all nor any actual information about anything that may or may not be under investigation in Buffalo (where there apparently have been no charges, arrests or convictions related to whatever it is federal authorities are doing).

I remember when such things were rep0rted and c0nsidered big news.

Pardon me if I don't trust what you "remember" for what qualifies as "big news." Jim correctly notes that with so much of the newshole being overwhelmed with the biggest corruption stories flowing out of the Trump Administration, there is simply not enough time or space to devote to the run-of-the-mill cases that are a fact of life when you put people in charge of other people and money:

George Ryan of Illinois, and the multipronged corruption probes after the guilty plea by Randy Cunningham, a former Republican House member from San Diego, bureau officials said.

As one of the Bush administration's least known anticrime efforts, the F.B.I. initiative has yielded an unexpectedly rich array of cases. The results suggest that wrongdoing by public officials at all levels of government is deeply rooted and widespread. Several of the highest profile cases in which the F.B.I. played an active role involve Republicans.

Bureau officials believe that the investment in corruption cases is easily worth the cost. In 2004 and 2005, more than 1,060 government employees were convicted of corrupt activities, including 177 federal officials, 158 state officials, 360 local officials and 365 police officers, according to F.B.I. statistics. The number of convictions rose 27 percent from 2004 to 2005.

Whatever may be happening locally in Buffalo City Hall today, it is of virtually no national significance compared to the "drug deal" (as John Bolton called it) cooked up by Trump, Giuliani, Sondland and Mulvaney to extort the President of Ukraine for the personal benefit of Donald Trump. Nor is it of any significance compared to the corruption scandals that have been part and parcel of the Trump Administration/Campaign since the beginning: from Paul Manafort and Rick Gates to Michael Cohen to Michael Flynn to Scott Pruitt to Tom Price to Ryan Zinke to Elaine Chao ... there is no end to the self-dealing and venality exhibited by Trump and his minions.

He gathered them round, And the mood it did shift
For the Intelligence Chair One Rep. Adam Schiff.
He cried, good and loud, "I have here some subpoenas!
For officials to come And show their demeanors!"

And quick as a flash, He called out their names
To appear before Congress And mayhap levy blame.
"NOW VOLKER, NOW SONDLAND,
NOW MASHA, AND GEORGE KENT!

How the story will end Is anyone's guess.
Will the Senate remove?  Or will the votes be far less?
