Trump's looking deflated

Post by Gob »

A towering Baby Trump protest balloon was knifed and deflated by someone unhappy with its appearance during Donald Trump’s Saturday trip to Alabama, organisers said.

The incident occurred during the president’s visit to watch a University of Alabama football game. The balloon, which is more than 6.1 metres (20 feet) tall, was set up in a nearby park.

Jim Girvan, the organiser of a group that “adopts” out Baby Trump balloons for protests, said a man charged the balloon with a knife and cut a 2.4-metre (8-foot) gash in the back. Girvan said the unidentified man was taken into custody. Tuscaloosa police did not immediately respond to a request for more details.

The orange, diaper-clad, cellphone-clutching caricature of the president is often taken to Trump appearances as a way to protest against him.

Baby Trump first rose over London, when local activists brainstormed a way to troll Trump. Now several groups raise money to bring balloon replicas around the US.

Robert Kennedy, a volunteer “baby sitter” who brought the balloon to Tuscaloosa, said the balloon immediately began to sag after it was cut.

The day had been going mostly smoothly, Kennedy said. Some people yelled “Trump 2020” as they passed while others posed for selfies with the balloon. But then Kennedy said a man sidled up on the back of the balloon and attacked it with a knife. He ran away but was caught by police officers, Kennedy said.

Kennedy said he’s accompanied Baby Trump to many appearances and never witnessed an attack on the balloon, although someone did stab a Baby Trump balloon in London earlier this year.

“It is rare to get that kind of anger,” Kennedy said.

I remember years ago some idiots with pictures of Obama with bullet holes: the Secret Service expressed an interest and investigated.
A picture of a group of young men carrying guns and holding up a T-shirt featuring President Barack Obama’s face covered in what appear to be bullet holes posted on Facebook has attracted the attention of the Secret Service.

“Any time information such as this is brought to our attention, where an individual or a group expresses unusual direction of interest in one of our protectees, we conduct appropriate follow-up,” Max Milien, a spokesman for the Secret Service, told POLITICO on Friday afternoon. “This posting falls into that category. We’ll conduct the appropriate follow-up measures on this.”
Similarly when Kathy Griffin made a foolish picture of a decapitated Trump - and I'm not defending her - the Secret Service contacted her to make sure that she was not a threat to the stable genius.

I hope that the SS will interview this young man for his misguided attempt to stab our President in the back. Do your job, SS: that's what we pay you for. Yes it was an image but it's easy to be confused when you see the two side by side and he may have thought that he was having a go at the real thing.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Speaking of Darren...

I notice he hasn't been by lately...

I guess having all your unsupported assertions being shot down by fact-based rebuttals isn't a whole lot of fun...

The dynamics of the 2020 election are the same as the 2016 election...

Well, no, and here's the proof...

All the polls were wrong in 2016...

Well, no, and here's the proof...

Trump has actually been tough on Russia...

Well, no, and here's the proof...

Yeah, I can see how that would get old after a while... ;)

And then there's this.

Trump says he might attend Russian military celebration

Even the staunchest of the Big Grifter's supporters (ie. Darren) would be sickened by this blatant PDA with his paramour, Putin. Plausible deniability of their sexual liaisons only goes so far.

Darren may be horribly mesmerized and misguided by his Commander-in-Cheeto, but I don't think he's stupid.

I could be wrong, however.

Exactly.

There's nothing new under the sun.
