Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
There are thousands of articles about statistical sampling that you could read in order to understand how it works.
I don't want you to take my word for it.
I count on you to care enough to discover the truth for yourself.

Revel in your ignorance, then.
Because I know we could cite 100 sources to explain it, and you would dismiss it as bullshit. So give us a reason why we should bother attempting to educate you when your mind is closed.

Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
Here is one article explaining sample size calculation for those not studied in statistics. The relevant point:
The mathematics of probability prove that the size of the population is irrelevant unless the size of the sample exceeds a few percent of the total population you are examining. This means that a sample of 500 people is equally useful in examining the opinions of a state of 15,000,000 as it would a city of 100,000. For this reason, The Survey System ignores the population size when it is "large" or unknown. Population size is only likely to be a factor when you work with a relatively small and known group of people (e.g., the members of an association).

Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
By stating that 70% wouldn’t want witnesses Wes is basically saying he knows Trump is guilty.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
That one's easy: a significant number of Trump's followers are so convinced of his innocence that they believe calling witnesses would exonerate Trump. Trump himself seems to believe this. (And it *IS* in fact true...if Trump and his toadies are the only ones to decide which witnesses can testify, and which witnesses can't.)wesw wrote:0k...,
if half the peple d0n t want him impeached h0w can 70 per cent want witnesses?

Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
And of course I would bet that a fair portion of those who do not want Trump impeached are those who think who think that POTUS stands for Piece of Terminally Unredeemable Shit and who think that impeachment, followed by his inevitable victory in the Senate, would make him even more of an ignoranus. Those people who think that this is impossible have clearly not been paying attention for the last four years.Econoline wrote:That one's easy: a significant number of Trump's followers are so convinced of his innocence that they believe calling witnesses would exonerate Trump. Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
POTUS and his official supporters have stated over and over that he was denied due process by the House. Just what processes were denied him?
The GOP leader in the Senate has stated that he is not going to allow ANY witnesses, even if the request comes from POTUS. How is that
'due process'?
It will be interesting to see just how 'justice' is maintained by the judge in this trial.

Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
My understanding is that Roberts runs the trial in the Senate. Does McConnell overrule Roberts on issues such as witnesses?
Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
Neither McConnell nor Roberts has the final word on issues like calling witnesses. Those decisions are made by the Senate itself, by simple majority vote.

In other words, Yertle the Turtle does, if fact, get the final word regarding this impeachment.Lord Jim wrote:Neither McConnell nor Roberts has the final word on issues like calling witnesses. Those decisions are made by the Senate itself, by simple majority vote.

Not if there are a handful of GOP senators with a spine.

Now that Articles 1 and 2 have been adopted, George Conway (husband of Kellyanne Conway) has come up with the perfect new acronym for our fearless leader..... IMPOTUS, standing for IMpeached President Of The United States.

Re: “Article 1 is adopted”
That's the whole question; there are about seven or eight that are thought capable of that, only four are needed.Scooter wrote:Not if there are a handful of GOP senators with a spine.
Time will tell...(the broad popular support in favor of calling witlessness may help to stiffen some spines...)

And now it goes to the Senate.... which prompts me to ask — what do you get if you combine 50 Republican senators with 50 lesbians?
