Could this be treason?

Post by BoSoxGal »

Apparently this story is about to break across several major media outlets - that Trump did have intelligence on coronavirus going back into late fall/early winter and that he sat on that intelligence and did nothing in order to work angles with the Chinese government for a more favorable trade deal and to dig dirt on Biden.

If this proves to be true, if this motherfucker knew a pandemic was coming and did next to nothing out of political self-interest inclusive of stroking a foreign power, could this not get him prosecuted for treason?

Interesting note that the only person ever tried, convicted and hanged for treason against the federal government was a guy who pulled down the American flag during the Civil War.

Isn’t complicity in the deaths of tens of thousands - eventually likely hundreds of thousands before the pandemic ends - a bigger treason against the people?

ATTENTION: A picture is emerging—across 10 major-media investigative reports—of the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. as a bribery scandal in which Trump looked the other way on intel about the virus in November in order to placate Chinese lenders and get political dirt on Joe Biden.

As I've said in a different context, the Framers defined treason in your Constitution in a very specific way, precisely to avoid its meaning being stretched beyond those bounds. However irresponsible, craven and/or just plain despicable his actions have been, they don't rise to the level of taking up arms against the U.S., nor of giving aid and comfort to its enemies, not even figuratively.

I'm inclined to agree with Scooter.  Although if these latest allegations are true, it sounds like (yet another) classic case of malfeasance in office/failure to uphold the oath of office — not that it will make any difference so long as the Repugnicants control the Senate.

Best chance we have to get rid of Trump will be at the ballot box in November, unless a kind and compassionate deity takes pity on us and calls him in for a face-to-face in the meantime.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

No. Trump would never put his own interests above that of his fellow Americans.

Excuse me....

I'm banking on November 3rd to rid ourself of the White House pandemic.

Hopefully, the courts and our legal system will take care of the Big Grifter after January 20, 2021.
