The Kansas incident happened before I owned a cell phone. In addition to there being no services for dozens and dozens of miles, there were no call boxes.

My 20 year old, high mileage vehicle runs better now on mid grade fuel, this has been tested and retested and I am more than satisfied with the results of the experimentation.

I really don’t need the condescension and mansplaining. I can only assume it makes up for the fact that your dick doesn’t work very well anymore. Or who knows why some of you men feel like you need to tell women things that you’re sure they couldn’t possibly understand without your help - because plenty of men whose dicks still work engage in this ridiculous behavior, too.

I hope someday your people will gain enlightenment enough to know that we just laugh at you when you do this. It does nothing to raise you in our estimation. Sure, the laughter and contempt is often hidden inside - we do that because we learn quite young that you’re capable of hurting and even killing us if we don’t smile pretty and act like you’re ‘all that’ - but secretly we think many of you are total idiots and monsters.

As for "learning quite young that you're capable of hurting and even killing us" ... you don't even want to go there with a blanket generalization like that.  I imagine the next bit of the "new feminist manifesto" that you'll start spouting is the one that claims since every male has a penis that automatically makes him a likely rapist.

I suspect you know if you have fuel injection and let the fuel level drop too low, you'll get to buy a new fuel pump. At least the mechanic won't have to wrestle with a tank full of gas when he removes it.

You're correct in that ex-KA made the first mention of running the tank down to fumes, and Darren made the first mention of fuel pumps specifically.  Then you butted in with your bitchsplaining (damn, I like that term; I may have to copyright the word!) —

I have run my gas tank down to the alert light (which according to Toyota leaves me with a gallon or so remaining, and I often run on the alert light 15-20 miles) on a regular basis for years - never an issue with my fuel injection system. I put in fuel additive every few fillups, use mid-grade fuel, and steer clear of older gas stations (too much potential for extra water in the fuel).

Darren responded, I came in later that day after getting off of work with my two cents worth, and things went downhill (from your point of view, anyway) from there.

What Darren should have said in response to your post was something along the lines of "I wasn't talking to you."  That would have avoided the whole problem, I suppose.

I used the term mansplaining because you used it first BS Gal. I think it's funny term. Apparently you think It's a serious one. And I thought we were friends.

Having worked off and on in the automotive industry for over 50 years, I probably know as much or more about cars, and how they work, than anyone else on PlanB. I've replaced dozens of fuel pumps inside gas tanks. Many cars have access panels in their trunks or under their rear seats so that the tank doesn't need to be removed. A lot of customers complain loudly about the cost of fuel pump replacement when a tank has to be removed. The pumps themselves are expensive enough.

As far as my penis is concerned, if indeed you need to be concerned, it works just fine, thank you. Ask Mrs Mc who shared it with me as recently as last night. No complaints there.
