The question is whether Mr. Arbery's death was a justified killing or murder. I don't know at this point. The fact that Mr. Arbery may have a criminal past may or may not be relevant.

Trayvon Martin's death was due to a coward, Zimmerman, not holding out during the beating for the few more minutes it took for the cops to arrive. Martin would have been charged with battery and lived. None of it would have made national or international news.

I don't know what went through Zimmerman's mind. I'm not sure if they grappled for Zimmerman's gun. I do know the 9mm was fired once and not the several times you'd think if a hate crime was in progress.

The bullet disabled both lungs and the heart. Trayon was able to say some last words, fell over unconscious and died immediately. The autopsy report used to be accessible via the internet.

Federal Officials Close Investigation Into Death of Trayvon Martin

The Justice Department announced today that the independent federal investigation found insufficient evidence to pursue federal criminal civil rights charges against George Zimmerman for the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. Prosecutors from the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, officials from the FBI, and the Justice Department’s Community Relations Service met today with Martin’s family and their representatives to inform them of the findings of the investigation and the decision.

The video shows Mr. Arbery running up to the pickup truck and the father and son. IOW, Arbery was not chased down. Watch the video for yourself. You can see two men grappling after Arbery ran in front of the parked truck.

Then (the only reasonable surmise) one of them in front of the by now parked truck ahead of Arbery, holding a shotgun, challenged Arbery who tried to wrestle the gun away OR stop himself from being shot OR both. And the racist bastard, who had the shotgun, shot him with the shotgun.

The father retired as an investigator and had previous experience with Arbery, Did Arbery recognize the father?

Rather than he got what he deserved I'd classify it as a fatal attack of dumb assery. Taking a shotgun away from an ex-police officer isn't something I'd do.
