Huzzah West Point!

Post by BoSoxGal »

The 1100 graduates marched out in uniform matched masks, and sat 6 feet apart in accordance with social distancing guidelines.

Both were in the best interests of the graduates and their families and commands, and against Trump’s previously publicly stated wishes.

Reports are that his speech was met by muted applause. A letter was sent to the graduates by a number of alumni prior to the ceremony, decrying Trump’s recent words and actions that have politicized the military.

Trump is losing the military.

Without further ado -- a smattering of applause...

Wow, thanks for posting that - they really did make clear their disgust for him!

It should be noted that the graduates were all wearing white gloves. The three who were clapping were doing the best they could.

A friend who actually watched the speech said at 5:30 you get to hear them clap for their families and friends (watching remotely) and it’s even more obvious then how little they clapped for Trump.

I have no idea if it's real, but I hope so.

Huzzah!!

The entire ceremony is available at this link:

https://www.c-span.org/video/?473034-1 ... nt-address

You can speed through the address (where its clear he still has no idea how to use a teleprompter), and watch the good parts, including the cheers when the goat (finished last in the class) graduated. It’s pretty clear where they were applauding politely and where they were enthusiastic.

A couple of things I noted: it looked like they constructed a ramp to get up to the podium instead of steps, and his trumpiness had a difficult time walking down it (but not up), when walking over from the Superintendents house he stopped multiple times to view and touch some of the machines parked on the lawn (including a helicopter), making everyone wait for him even longer, afterwards when the ceremony was finished not many cadets wanted to come over to him, most were more interested in each other, only two actually shook his hand.

It was a beautiful day, a cool ceremony, at a gorgeous place, and I am thankful to these young men and women for taking on their service (but I will always be a Navy girl first  ).

I don’t think its from this year, if it is real. The ceremony was on the Plain, not in the football stadium. They are not anywhere near each other. Plus no guests, other than el trumpie. I see some people not in uniform in the photo.

Be kind to your web footed friends,
For that duck may be somebody's mother
She lives in a hole in a swamp
Where the weather is always damp
You may think that this is the end:
Well it is, but to prove that we're all liars
We're going to sing it again,
But only this time we will sing a little higher

Repeat as many times as you like (or stand) rising in pitch with each repeat.

Last verse :
Be kind to your web footed friends,
For that duck may be somebody's mother
She lives in a hole in a swamp
Where the weather is always damp
You may think that this is the end:
Well, it is!"
