There Goes the Neighborhood....

Post by Joe Guy »

Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle's new neighbors already seem to be unhappy

Thirty of Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle's new neighbors have reportedly sent letters to the community's property owners association asking that the couple not be allowed to move in.

The son of the former president and the former first lady of San Francisco intend to relocate to Admirals Cove, an exclusive gated community in Jupiter, Florida. In the time since their intentions were made public, Peter Moore, the general manager of Admiral Cove's property owners association, said he's received 30 letters from neighbors expressing deep concern.

"About half have concerns about safety," Moore told the Palm Beach Post. "The others have political concerns with what's happened in the last couple of weeks."

Moore told the publication one resident referenced Guilfoyle's unceremonious exit from Fox News, writing in a letter, "There are news reports detailing improper behavior by Ms. Guilfoyle while employed at Fox News and news reports of possible criminal investigations of Donald Trump Jr."

"I believe their membership would bring undesirable notoriety to the club, harm our reputation and have the potential for creating disharmony," the resident also said.

The Palm Beach Post also reported on an email thread where residents decried the couple's purchase, with one calling it a "nightmare."

When someone buys a property in Admirals Cove, they must also pay for membership in the highly exclusive Admirals Club, which reportedly costs $195,000 to join and features a spa, 45 holes of golf, pickleball and tennis courts, a fitness center, two clubhouses, two driving ranges, four restaurants and a marina for "mega-yachts."

Admirals Club general manager and chief operating officer Brett Morris told the Palm Beach Post the community "prides itself on being an inclusive community," and that "the Club has no say in who buys in Admirals Cove," thus, "the Club cannot disapprove of them for membership."

What the hell is pickleball? Okay I looked it up. Anyway, if I have "white privilege", as I'm often reminded of in the media, why don't I have what Donald jr & Kimberly have?

Or are they just whiter than I am and in some other White Privilege class? Ultra White Privilege? Deluxe White Privilege? Privilege Supremo (with extra cheese)?

When we were kids "pickle ball" had one meaning, and now it has another. I've played both forms, and prefer the former as a component of a real sport; plus, I'm not ready to take a tennis racquet out of my hand just yet. But yeah, even under the best of circumstances, it must be a pain to have a former POTUS or family members, like the Trump TNG, as neighbors. I'm guessing, if you can pay the toll, you get to cross that bridge, though.

You are confusing money with white privilege. They are not the same, as Chris Rock will tell you (you can start at 1:45):

There ain't a white man in this room that would change places with me -- none of you, none of you would change places with me --and I'm rich! That's how good it is to be white.
GAH!

Chris is right. I wouldn't want to change places with him but I wouldn't want to change places with Donald jr either. Especially if Kimberly Guilfoyle is part of the deal.
