The murders could be thought of as fundamentalist Christian religious bigotry, or maybe as a hate crime against sex workers. The one person in this story who comes across most clearly as racist/white supremacist/anti-Asian is the white cop with the "Chy-na virus" t-shirts.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.
