I just bought a new lizard for my terrarium.

I've named him "Tiny"...

.
.
because he's my newt.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

He did not think that through, just went with his reptilian brain's first suggestion.

Does your correction not depend upon whether or not THE PEDANTS' REVOLT is intended as a simple statement of fact? The use of all-capitals renders it ambiguous. "The Pedant's Revolt" would create less confusion and fewer corrections.ex-khobar Andy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 6:06 pmFTFY. You're welcome.Burning Petard wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 4:26 pmAh Scooter! For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: We all love puns
Ex-K Andy was pointing out the spelling (punctuation) that was actually used in the punny picture.

OK Gen'l, and Even you Joe. Enough pedantry! Of course Andy is proper. Ambiguous? Only perhaps for Liberty.

If it were a simple statement of fact (please note proper use of the irrealis mood) then it would be THE PEDANTS REVOLT. And I see what you did there with the confusion and corrections.MajGenl.Meade wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 5:17 amDoes your correction not depend upon whether or not THE PEDANTS' REVOLT is intended as a simple statement of fact? Ah . . . not if they incorrectly used the apostrophe which neither you nor I can know at the time the meme was createdex-khobar Andy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 2:23 pmIf it were a simple statement of fact (please note proper use of the irrealis mood) then it would be THE PEDANTS REVOLT. I just got an idea for a necklace that I would like to send to Meade. It would have a pendant hanging from it that says Pedant.

A group of Franciscan monks tried to open a flower shop near here, but the first day they were open a flock of sheep wandered in and ate their entire stock. Only ewes can prevent florist friars.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

So they tried opening a restaurant instead, with much more success. In fact, their traditional Friday "all you can eat" fish-and-chips dinners were the toast of the town, and people would come from miles around to eat there.
One customer was so satisfied after his meal that he poked his head back into the kitchen area to compliment the chef. Calling out to one of the workers near the deep fryer, he said that he had never had such well-cooked fish, perfectly flaky without an excess of batter, and asked if he was the one responsible for producing such an excellent meal.
"No," said the cleric, "that would be Brother Dominic. He's the fish friar. I'm only the chip monk."
