I copied these two images from an email I received. I could see where people could accidentally click on one of the buttons if they weren't focused or being careful. Most people realize that, especially if a message is from your bank, it will address you by name. In this case, it was easy for me to know it was spam since I don't have any relationship with American Express.

The link will of course take you to a website set up like an Amex online account, where the dupe will enter their user id and password, and then the phisher will go to town.
