It's not a bad song and it's weird how Elton John, whose name was once a synonym for 'flamboyant,' is the most normal looking one in his nice blue suit.

I couldn't watch or listen to that thing sitting and whining on Elton's piano for more than 30 seconds so I can't answer your question.

Well, she could use some breast augmentation to really rock that 70's throwback outfit.

I'm not gonna come right out and say they ripped off the melody from someone else, but it does sound like they "sampled" an awful lot of Cat Stevens' "Wild World" in that song.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

You're right BB - there was a ring of familiarity I couldn't place.

The original.

Interestingly;
At the time of the single's release, British DJ Jonathan King accused the Pet Shop Boys of plagiarising the melody for "It's a Sin" from Cat Stevens' 1971 song "Wild World". He made the claims in The Sun newspaper, for which he wrote a regular column during the 1980s. King went so far as to release his own cover version of "Wild World" as a single, using a similar musical arrangement to "It's a Sin", in an effort to demonstrate his claims. While the Pet Shop Boys sued King, this single flopped, eventually winning out-of-court damages, which they donated to charity

And a damn sight better than that Elton and the Hermaphrodites version

The new version clearly has the blessing of PSB because they produced it along with Stuart Price, their long-time producer. They were intended to join in the performance but were unable to do so due to other contractual issues. after listening to both, I'm not really a fan of either version; but I do like the new one with Elton John better than the PSB one.

I'm a fan of the original, it's stood the test of time. It came out when the "acid house craze" was in full swing here, and was a mainstay of many raves.

Well, I'll be dipped! I watched Cat Stevens video and realized after all these years that he was singing, "But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware..." All this time I thought he was saying "there's a lot of bad everywhere".

Yeah, it is indeed a wild world.....Joe.

OTOH, city girls just seem to find out early, how to open doors with just a smile.
