Sue--I am not sure about Massachusetts, but in many states one may not carry a firearm (especially a loaded one) without a carry permit from that state (and I'd bet MA is one of those states). And even when transporting the firearms through the state they must be unloaded and locked int he trunk or a secure locked container (if there is no trunk). For example, in NJ one may transport firearms to and from the range but they must be unloaded and locked and the ammo stored separately; further, one must take a direct route to the range and home, without any stops (arguable, even stopping for gas is a violation, as would be stopping to get food).

The leader of this particular group of "Moors", who calls himself Jamal Tavon blah blah Bey, likes to dress up and let people know that he was once a Marine. There are some fun videos you can find on YouTube where people who claim to be Moors defend themselves in court. Like Jamal blah blah Bey, they claim to know the law and not need lawyers to represent them.

Yes, Massachusetts is one of those states, and under recent SJC ruling police can arrest someone carrying firearms they believe to be unlicensed without first determining if a license exists - which makes sense given the exigent nature of people running around strapping long guns with large capacity magazines, which are expressly outlawed in Massachusetts.

Perhaps it’s my bias against terrorist sovereign citizen types who have a history of slaughtering law enforcement officials without provocation, but I have ZERO PROBLEMS with the MSP’s arrests and the subsequent charging of these idiots for brandishing their loaded high capacity assault rifles on I95 and fleeing from law enforcement when requested to provide ID and firearms licenses - thus causing a pretty terrifying event for all the law abiding residents asked to shelter in place while gun nutters and police played cat and mouse in their neighborhoods for hours.

Maybe if they’d just cooperated with MSP from the outset they’d have been on their merry way to Maine with citations in hand, but they didn’t so we will never know. The way things are going in this country at the moment I have no problem whatsoever with law enforcement in Massachusetts enforcing our very strict gun laws when they see paramilitary types riding down the roads armed to the teeth.

It seems that the solution here is actually quite obvious: legalize permitless open and concealed carry. Problem solved.
