I wasn't trying to imply that the vaccines work as a treatment; just comparing the wealth of evidence that has been used to approve the vaccines but which is ignored by many, while seemingly accepting zero evidence for the usefulness of ivermectin as a treatment.

I suppose if the Ohio patient is at death's door and has tried the approved/accepted treatments (generally dexamethazone and remdesivir or variants thereof) then there is no harm clutching at the straw of an unproven drug. I hope it works for him.

Joe Rogan, who apparently is some sort of podcast star, has acquired COVID and has, according to the Guardian, "thrown the kitchen sink" at his infection. Not literally of course AFAIK (but time will tell: CDC should probably ask Lowes and Home Depot to report sales of kitchen sinks so we can determine if there is an otherwise unexplained spike) and his medication regime does include ivermectin.

Naturally I hope he gets better: but if he does I expect him to applaud the ivermectin for his recovery and the net result will be that even more idiots will self medicate from Tractor Supply.

Interesting piece here (from July) pointing out how a major study which apparently justified the use of ivermectin was falsified and retracted from publication. Of course once something is out there and running rampant on the Intertubes, it cannot be retrieved and nullified.

Being double-jabbed almost halves the likelihood of long Covid in adults who get coronavirus, a new study has suggested.

Researchers at King's College London also said that being admitted to hospital with the virus was 73 per cent less likely, and the chances of severe symptoms were reduced by almost a third (31 per cent) in the fully vaccinated.

The team analysed data from more than two million people logging their symptoms, tests and vaccine status on the UK Zoe Covid Symptom Study app between December 8 2020 and July 4 this year.


Some 6,030 app users reported testing positive for Covid-19 at least 14 days after their first vaccination but before their second, while 2,370 reported testing positive at least seven days after their second dose.

The research, published in the Lancet, said: 'We found that the odds of having symptoms for 28 days or more after post-vaccination infection were approximately halved by having two vaccine doses.

'This result suggests that the risk of long Covid is reduced in individuals who have received double vaccination, when additionally considering the already documented reduced risk of infection overall.'

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF LONG COVID?
Most coronavirus patients will recover within a fortnight, suffering a fever, cough and losing their sense of smell or taste for several days.

However, evidence is beginning to show that the tell-tale symptoms of the virus can persist for weeks on end in 'long haulers' — the term for patients plagued by lasting complications.

Data from the Covid Symptom Study app, by King's College London and health company Zoe, suggests one in ten people may still have symptoms after three weeks, and some may suffer for months.

It added: 'Almost all individual symptoms of Covid-19 were less common in vaccinated versus unvaccinated participants, and more people in the vaccinated than in the unvaccinated groups were completely asymptomatic.'

The research team said their data suggested that frail, older adults and people living in more deprived areas were still at an increased risk but that the effects of the virus appeared to be less severe in those who are vaccinated.

They said their findings were relevant 'for health policies post-vaccination, and highlight the need to balance personal protective measures in those at risk of post-vaccination infection with the adverse effects from ongoing social restrictions'.

The fucking vaccine will not make you magnetic. Are you fucking kidding me? It just fucking won’t. That’s not even a fucking thing, and that lady who tried to pretend the vaccine made her fucking magnetic looked like a real fucking fuckwad and a fucking idiot, so get fucking vaccinated. Jesus. Fuck.

This is interesting and maybe I am learning something about how the internet works and specifically ads. This screenshot shows what I get when I go to the McSweeney's site. It boasts ad-free and sure enough, I see no ads. I am not a subscriber or a patron and AFAIK I have no ad-blocker in pace. I tried one once and it was more trouble than it was worth and besides, if the price of free content is that I have to look at an ad now and then, I am willing to pay that price.



But if Sue accidentally pasted the ads, then how come I do not see them?

My local Walgreens tells me they cannot do Covid19 vaccinations because of computer problems. They have everything needed to do them, but there is some kind of computer glitch. No they cannot do the vaccinations, write down all the data on a piece of paper and then keyboard it later. That suggestion got a big laugh. This does not seem to be limited to just my local drugist. The phone in Walgreen system, which is company wide, will not do appointments.

I have not checked to see if this applies to other venues. I was calling for a neighbor who has a 14 and a 16 year-old who could not figure it out. She thought it was just her lack of technical savvy.

I went in in person Friday with an appointment and they said come back tomorrow. So I did, with similar results. Me, I think somebody is honoring Labor
