A day that will liven in infamy...

Post by Big RR »

I knew it immediately before I even checked the calendar; there was a definite nip in the air this morning.

Seriously?

"date" but it certainly makes infamy more vital.

Apparently the Japanese used very small pilots for suicide missions later in the war. They used to shout "Bonsai! Bonsai!" as they missed their targets
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

That statement seems funnier coming from you.

And it's nothing to get all PC about.

Sorry but I don’t think it’s cool to use racial slurs, not even once a year in memory of some bad Japanese people who are long since dead. I’m well aware that many who post here find such things amusing.

FWIW, it's a rather old racial slur; I've never heard of Japanese referred to as Nips since 40s and 50s WW2 movies. In fact, as I understand it, Nippan is now pronounced Nihon (not sure why). some might take offense, but many wouldn't even know what it referred to.

I also remember something about a half-black/half-Japanese man who attacks Pearl Bailey every December 7th. At least he used to to that.....

The joke is older than me and it wasn't really that funny but I doubt Pearl Bailey was offended.

Anyway I haven’t been watching much news lately (for mental health reasons) but I wonder if there was much coverage of this today? I only saw one story when I checked my various news pages online.

I remember growing up in the 70s 80s that it seemed like a big fucking deal was made of the Pearl Harbor anniversary every year, with lots of mentions in radio and tv news and usually retrospectives in feature programming, etc.

And I have noticed in recent years that it barely gets a mention by comparison to the saturation back then. It’s just very disconcerting to have reached a point in life when history that was really big in one’s youth becomes old news. I read recently some stats about the Holocaust being unknown to a large percentage of young people today - a deeply unsettling reality. Time to make a Schindler’s List starring Taylor Swift? Anything to get our youth up on history and woke to how fascism rises and how it’s happening right now all around them.

Right ... make Schindler a female so as to pander to the masses.  Then ditch the two white guys who did the original — there must be some black rapper who could rework the musical score so that it would play well in the 'hood, and you need to get the transgendered Wachowski whatevers to direct instead of Spielberg.  The Jews can still be Jews, I suppose — at least, I THINK they're still considered an oppressed minority...

BSG, you and your wokeness makes me wanna puke.

Me too.

Stick a fattie in your pie hole and suck on it until magic time appears.

I now wish to take back what I posted.

You're of course entitled to your opinion, BSG.

Sorry for the meanness on my part.
